Prologue
It's s disease known for utterly devastating all infected before quietly killing with little to no chance of survival. A disease that turns the rational insane, the outgoing and expressive passive and silent, the friendly aggressive, the calm hysterical.
Eggman knew exactly what he was doing when he uprooted the ancient strain. For thousands of years, it was thought to be eradicated, so imagine his surprise when he found a pile of underground sand chock full of the contagion. The ancient Mobians knew it was a dreaded blight on their already destructive and war-filled existence and had the disease destroyed, apparently not thoroughly enough.
Eggman knew exactly what he was doing when he injected a sample of his newly 'upgraded' strain, a result of days of systematic testing and forced mutation, into a freshly captured Mobian. He knew what would happen as the disease took hold of the innocent's mind within 2 hours, forcing onto it horrid delusions, hysteria, aggression, and a near impossible to fight urge to bite. He knew what would happen as the infected went on to infect the reptilian Mobian next to it, a feat once known as impossible and beyond the disease's limits; it should have infected only mammals. He knew what would happen as the infected seemingly refused to go into the phase of their inevitable death, an unfortunate and classic final result removed by Eggman, effectively trapping the two in their crazed states.
I hear even his robots thought the very idea of it all was disgusting; this man created this horrid strain in an attempt to commit biological warfare on his enemies, to make us weak minded and easily controlled as he took over the planet. But there was nothing they could do.
He didn't know the infected were virtually uncontrollable. He didn't know the instant he let them out of their containment, they would subsequently turn on him and escape. He used to only cure he had ever made on himself, dooming the world with his latest invention.
And through what was to come, all he did was watch it all unfold.
For the world, it was the beginning of the end.
But for me and my friends, it started out as a normal Thursday afternoon.
This is just little taste of what I have planned next and it will stay that way for a bit as I finish other stories first. I figured I would post the prologue for this one so that the idea wouldn't be lost. So, if you're interested, sit tight, and I hope to get the first chapter out in the near future. Thanks for reading.
