I love music. It both calms me and pumps me up. When I get home from school and I need to relax, I put on my favorite slow jams. When I want to dance and go crazy I turn up Z100! To me, music is the next best thing to books on tape. Most importantly, music helps me express myself. Without music I would just die.
"My heart, which is so full to overflowing, has often been solaced and refreshed by music when sick and weary." In this quote by Martin Luther it seems that he too finds music soothing. He feels that music refreshes his soul. I agree with him. Whenever I am sad or angry I listen to my favorite songs, it tends to change my mood. When I listen to my favorite songs when I'm happy, my mood escalates.
"There is no feeling, except the extremes of grief and fear that does not find relief in music." This quote by George Eliot was not one of my favorites. If you take out the part about the extremes then I can agree with him. At the moment of grief and fear I can kind of understand why music can't help, but I still don't like the way he expresses his feelings towards music.
"Ah music, a magic beyond all we do here." In this quote by J.K. Rowling, she describes music as the most magical thing in the world. Even more magical than Hogwarts, the imaginary school in her hit series "Harry Potter". I agree with her as well. I find music a magical getaway that can take you to any place you want to go.
I feel that the quote by Martin Luther and J.K. Rowling were similar because they both expressed positive ideas and feelings about music. The quote by George Eliot kind of gave me a bad vibe and I felt it gave a negative message towards music.
I find music to be soothing, exciting, relaxing, and interesting. I need it to live. My friends describe me as addicted to music and I couldn't agree more. I always have some kind of music playing, whether I'm in my room rocking out to my iTunes, in the car rocking out to Z100, or just walking around with my iPod in my ears 24/7 singing out loud looking like a lunatic, I'm always listening. I lost my IPod about a year ago (I wound up buying a new one) but during the time I didn't have it…I was devastated. I love music. So, whenever you can, remember to turn up the tunes. Music can surprise you!
