I'm Back
The male walked along the stone bridge, his feet guiding him towards the place of his childhood. His blue puppy eyes turned nostalgic at the sight of the quaint, peaceful garden before him. His worn sneakers pressed against the blades of grass long overgrown and the thickening leaves of the rose bushes in need of trimming. He was surprised most of the flowers had not wilted yet, with no one properly tending to them for years, at least to his knowledge. He gently pushed past the foliage of leaves and found the clearing, where an elegant garden swing now of rusting black metal sat.
His fingers brushed against the iron frame where several padlocks hooked onto it, each inscribed with the initials of two lovers. It used to be a very beautiful site, one where young couples would wish for everlasting love, hooking a padlock to the swing and burying the key in the earth. Even now the male could notice the occasional new love lock linked to to the iron.
His fingers curled around one of them, a golden lock with two initials and a bunch of hearts drawn in with a red paint pen.
C.S. & E.N.
They had promised.
"Chung, stop crying. I'll come back."
"No you won't! They said you can't!"
"Yes I will. How about this? When I return, let's meet here again!"
"...Is that a promise, Eve?"
"Yup."
The girl locked her little pinky with his own.
It's been years now. He sighed, slumping onto the swing as the old chains creaked. His fingers combed through his blond tufts of hair as he lost himself in the clouds. He planned to pick himself up and leave, but the rustling caught his attention. He gazed at the overgrown foliage, expecting a squirrel, maybe even a rabbit, to pop out. Instead, he watched as a pale, slender hand pushed aside a tree branch, revealing a woman.
The familiarity of her silver hair, now waist length, and her matured amber eyes kept him still on the swing.
Was he dreaming?
She tugged at her suitcase, noticing his presence too, and with that she broke into that small but genuine smile.
"I'm back Chung."
This is just a short drabble I cooked up in 1st quarter when a teacher wanted us to keep a daily journal thing. Besides that haha...I know I said Love of the Lawless was gonna take a very long while, but still I apologize cuz while I am suffering in school and sleep deprived, etc. I've also been slacking off. At most, I've just been silently snooping around here and Wattpad. I've been unhappy with the 2nd chapter draft and have been revising it and revisiting the whole story in short bursts. Sadly, I haven't been making much progress in chapters either. I'm gonna say now that winter break isn't gonna help much. Well besides sounding depressing, hope your day has been doing well!
