A/N: This is my first Kane Chronicles fanfic, and it's been a while since I read Throne of Fire, especially since I forget things so easily… I'll stop ranting. Hope you like. Please review, flames are used by Sadie to make watery breakfast. Sorry for OOCness.

I took one look at breakfast and nearly threw up. I sighed, then pushed Sadie out of my way none too lightly. She grumbled and walked away, presumably back to bed.
There was brief shouting behind me. Then heavy footsteps on the stairs and the sound of a grumpy Zia. I smiled slightly, though that quickly turned into a frown as I looked at the mess of a breakfast that Sadie had created. Soggy pancakes, very crispy bacon, and the 'scrambled' eggs that looked about as appetizing as dry cornmeal.
"Where's my breakfast?"A voice called from somewhere behind me. Zia. She was half asleep, which wasn't a surprise.
"Sadie sort of…you know…"I said nervously. I half expected her to start shouting at me, but that wasn't what happened.
"Here, let me do it," Zia said, leading me out of the kitchen. I shivered at her touch, and just stood there for a moment, paralyzed. [Shut up, Sadie!] "I can cook," she added before going to the kitchen. I heard a few mutters and a crash. I fell asleep listening to the sizzling sound of bacon. My dream wasn't that pleasant either.
My ba looked at Apophis' prison. Suddenly, a giant snake with red eyes broke through. There was no sound, but I could sense that Apophis was laughing. But I couldn't move. The red eyes zoned in on me, and I couldn't move from fear. Even though I knew this was all just a dream. People started appearing around me, all those that I knew, and in a second, they were all swept away by Apophis.
I sat up suddenly, and saw Sadie and Zia eating at the table. Sadie was somewhat zoned out while Zia was looking at me with concern. "Are you okay?"she asked in a motherly tone of voice. I smiled and nodded, though she looked doubtful. After the dream, I wasn't hungry anymore. I couldn't eat knowing that Apophis would leave his prison in less than a day. [Scared, Sadie? I wasn't scared!]
OMNOMOMNOM! I ATE THE LINE!
When you looked at the sky, it didn't look like the world would end in less than 24 hours. It was a bright and sunny day, just the right temperature. I sat outside, admiring the sky. "What's wrong?"Zia asked from behind me.
'Everything', I wanted to say, but no. I couldn't say that. I was a man, and I was supposed to act like one. I fixed my expression into a smile, and said, "Nothing"
"You can't fool me, Carter, "she said as she sat down next to me. I didn't reply. She punched me in the arm, hard. I cursed and glared at her.
"What the hell was that for?"
"You can tell me,"she said with a look that said 'I'll be waiting here when you're ready'.
"I had a dream..."I said quietly. Zia rolled her eyes, and I rewarded her with a dirty look. "Apophis came out of his prison...and he was laughing. But I couldn't hear anything."
"I don't get it,"Zia said. I scowled and walked away, leaving her sitting alone on the hill.
