So this is the rewrite. For the record, the story is set post Iron Man 3 but pre Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Nick Fury sat alone in the dark room. The building belonged to S.H.I.E.L.D., it had once been a secret storage facility. After Loki's attack, many things had to be moved and changed. Still, LA made for good headquarters and many bases had remained around the area. Nick watched the security footage as one by one, or in the case of Barton and Romanoff in a pair, the wayward Avengers made their way into the building.

"What is it now Fury?" came a voice that could only belong to the sarcastic Tony Stark. Fury watched him strut in and take a seat at the table before him.

"You know we do have lives outside of your world." came Agent Barton's voice as he walked in with Romanoff. They took seats next to each other on the opposite side of the table as Stark.

"Why do you need us?" That would be Steve, the only one who cared more about the mission than being disturbed. He walked and took the seat opposite Tony.

"Do you really want me here again after I almost destroyed the ship last time?" asked Dr. Banner as he walked up and sat down.

"I have jobs for two worlds. What do you need?" boomed Thor's voice as he took the last seat at the table.

Fury waited for them to settle in and be quiet before he spoke.

"I know it's been a while. And I know we probably should have stayed apart longer. You all seem to be under great threat. However, they are minor in comparison to the one I have seen begin to rise. That is one of the reasons I called you here today. The other is this. I would like to add another member to the team." Fury told them. As soon as he said it, there was an uproar at the table. Everyone began shouting their opinions. There were several 'Why the hell would we want a new member?'s and 'Oh come on it's not that bad's as well.

"Shut up!" Fury shouted. The voices were silenced and order returned. "Thank you. This individual could prove to be a valuable asset. They are highly skilled and intelligent. They have wisdom beyond their years, or perhaps it is fitting for their years. Either way, I believe they could be just what this team needs."

"Who is it? Why are you being so vague?" Tony asked.

"I have already made my decision on this person's participation. But I would like your input. I don't want any prior experience or knowledge of this person to influence that." Fury explained.

"If they are as skilled as you say, I see no reason not to." Dr. Banner spoke slowly.

"I agree. Do you think they will work well with us?" Steve asked.

"I believe they will be an interesting tie. It's hard to say how they will react." Fury said honestly.

"I suppose we might as well give them a shot." Romanoff agreed. Barton nodded.

"Yeah sure." he shrugged.

"Are they a Midgardian?" Thor asked.

"Yes. A human." Fury said.

"I will try it." Thor was trying to use more common English as of late.

"Really? You all are just going along with this?" Stark asked. "Fury's lied to us before. How do we know this person isn't a serial killer?"

"How could a serial killer contribute to the group?" Steve interrupted.

"Well they could be a diva." Stark pointed out.

"Only room for one on the team, and you've got that spot." Natasha told him. He glared at her.

"I'm outvoted anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter." Tony caved.

"I want you to give them a chance. They haven't been given many in the past." Fury said sternly, as though Tony was a child.

"I will." Tony grumbled.

"Good. That's settled." Fury clapped his hands together.

"Will you tell us who it is now?" Steve asked.

"Her name is Silvia. Silvia Johnson." Fury spoke the name loudly.

"What?" Tony exploded. "Isn't that the girl whose parents-?"

"Yes. But we can deal with that later. Right now, you need to find her." Fury cut him off.

"Her parents what?" Dr. Banner asked.

"It's something for her to tell you. For those of you a little bit out of the loop, Silvia Johnson is a 15, well 16 tomorrow, year old. She lives in Crescent City, California. She is an orphan and a runaway. As Stark was saying, her parents were very influential people. They were murdered about a year ago. Silvia is almost as famous. As for the reasons, I'll let her tell you."

"Why can't your people get her?" Clint asked.

"Because it would be foolish to scare her. We don't want to lose her." Fury told him. "So I would like you, Romanoff, Steve, and Tony to go pick her up. Don't scare her, don't startle her. She will do one of two things and neither one is good for us. Kapeesh?"

"Yes sir." Steve said.

"Good. There's a jet upstairs. Take it. The coordinates are already programmed in. Good luck." The doors opened towards the stairs.

"But what about the threat?" Steve asked.

"That will have to wait until your return." Fury said with an air of finality. Steve nodded and headed out after the others.

"What about us?" Dr. Banner asked.

"We are going to meet them at the Helicarrier." Fury said. Another door opened and he gestured for them to follow him.

"Do you really think it will take four of them to get her?" Dr. Banner asked.

"I wouldn't be surprised. She's really quite something." Fury shook his head.

"Stark does not seem pleased with this." Thor spoke up.

"No he doesn't. But I didn't expect him to be." Fury said simply.

"How long do you think it will take them?" Banner asked.

"I'm not really sure. The girl will definitely be a challenge. Several hours, including time to get up there and then arrive in New York." Fury shrugged.

"New York?" Thor asked.

"Yes. You will be spending time at Stark Tower. Now let's go. We should get to there ahead of time. Our chopper isn't as fast as their jet."

This is the first chapter. It's longer and I think it sounds much better. Please review and thanks to everyone who stuck around, or is just joining.
