The Up-Walkers that I'd been staying with gave me away to two different Up-Walkers, but I just to be outside again, and feel the somewhat prickly grass on the bottom of my paws again.
The two new Up-Walkers gave me to a new Up-Walker. Her name was Rylie. I only bothered ever remembering hers because she was the only Up-Walker there that fed me this weird goop. It looked weird, but it tasted so good. She fed me it whenever I acted good, like when I didn't knock over things or when I do things like sit down when she tells me. Rylie is nice but strange. She moves her fingers on the weird thin box thing that she calls a laptop. I loved her but I still so badly wanted outside, I even managed to get outside a few times when I was still there, but Rylie or another Up-Walker caught me and took me back inside.
Once when I accidentally scratched Rylie on her neck, she took me upstairs and made a deal with me. A deal that if I scratched the little Up-Walker, then I would be gone. And I thought, Yes! That's exactly what I want!, but after I'd done it, Rylie came back from school, and I was immediately picked up by my scruff, and gently put in her arms. But I could tell Rylie was upset with me. Very upset, because when she became really upset, she'd start trembling even when she tried to hide it. Rylie yelled for one of the bigger Up-Walkers to keep an eye on the little one and she held me the entire time as she walked over to an old Up-Walker's home. Rylie had also carried the good food with her, but I didn't know why at the time because I hadn't done anything to earn it.
Rylie had put me down on a cold ground, it felt weird. It didn't feel like outside but I could get outside very quickly. When she put me down, I could smell two fully-grown cats that stayed in here. Both of them were toms, and they didn't like me and I didn't like them. I could tell Rylie hated leaving me here even though I was happy because there was water coming from her eyes.
I love Rylie, and I hated breaking her heart but I couldn't stand not being outside.
And Rylie had always been treated badly by the other Up - Walkers for some reason but one day she'd finally had enough. I never saw her again after the three days that she visited me. But before she left forever, she told me, "Goodbye, Bird. I love you."
