The first time Ron Weasley heard the phrase "The Golden Trio", he thought it meant Luna, Neville, and Ginny, the trio that kept the DA alive and fighting. When he found out who it really meant, he laughed. Is that really how people see them? That's just so… wrong. It's all about Harry Potter.
Harry's the one who fought Quirrel. Harry's the one who had to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. Harry's the one who fought the basilisk. Harry's the one who's had to put up with all the rumours for the past ever. Harry's the one who went with Dumbledore to retrieve the fake locket. Harry's the one who had his family secrets spilled to him in the Shrieking Shack- twice. Harry's the Chosen One who finally defeated Voldemort. Harry's the hero.
But maybe that isn't quite fair to Hermione. After all, she figured out what the basilisk was. She helped Harry practice spells for the Tournament. She's the one who used the Time-Turner. She's the one who brewed the Polyjuice Potion. She fought at the ministry. She's the founder of S.P.E.W. She's also the one who stormed out of Trelawney's class and punched Malfoy. Hermione's all-around brilliant.
Who is Ron Weasley? Ron is the one who can't play Quidditch. Ron is the one who got stuck behind a pile of stones in the Chamber of Secrets. Ron is the stupid one who had to cheat off Hermione for everything. He is the one who was knocked out in the Shrieking Shack. He's the one that let the brains attack him. He's the one who dated Lavender to hurt Hermione. He's the one that walked away from the tent, away from the quest, away from the responsibility. He's the weakling, the mean, spiteful coward.
But he's also the one who told Harry what an invisibility cloak was. Ron is the shoulder Hermione cried on when she heard about Buckbeak's sentence. He listened to Harry rant off all his angst. Ron's the one who backed Hermione in convincing Harry about the DA. He's the one who ran to fetch McGonagall when Harry had the vision of the snake. He's the one Sirius Black attacked. He's the thing Harry would 'sorely miss.' He's the one that came back and stabbed the locket. He's the best friend- and the boyfriend.
And maybe that's something every trio needs.
AN: Hmmm... I don't like it. What are your thoughts?
