Silence

He turned away as their laughter echoed throughout the base, leaving together to go to the surface.

It didn't take a genius to see the signs, even Mikey could have figured it out. The smiles they gave each other, how she always seemed to be so different around him, the awkward but comfortable silence when they were together.

It was obvious he didn't have a chance with April. He was a turtle, she was a human. But why... why didn't he stop himself from falling for her?

He couldn't tell her this all stinks. He couldn't wish for something that could never happen. He didn't want to ruin the friendship out of being a selfish child. They both would share laughter. Do so many things together. A world full of happiness he would never know.

And he would mourn in silence.

"I'm alright..." he waved a hand. "Nothing like a little patrol will get me back into the swing of things."

A hand was on his shoulder.

"If you need anything, I'm always here for you."

Raph was always one for sarcasm and jeers, though at the end of the day, he always pulled through for everyone.

A smile was on Donatello's face, placing a hand on his hand. "Thanks, Raph..."
