L was finally back from his second case and he was glad to be back home with Anna. Still, that didn't stop him from looking for yet another case to work on. "Hey, L." L looked up from his laptop to see Anna standing in the doorway of the room they'd been sharing for the past year. She was already in her pajamas with her hair pulled up sloppy bun.
"What is it?" L felt his heart leap violently in his chest. Ever since he's fallen in love with her, every time Anna came into his line of vision his heart began pounding harder. He thought it would have gone away after they became a couple, but after a year L was beginning to lose faith that it would ever stop. Anna smiled excitedly and went over to him, she held her hand out to him and pulled him up off the bed before dragging her out the door behind her.
"I want to show you something." L allowed her to lead him down the familiar halls of Wammy's house without question. When they finally got to the door of the living room she stopped. Pressing a finger to her lips, silently instructing L to be quiet, she pushed open the door. Lying on the floor, sprawled out in front of a dying fire were three little figures: Matt, Mello, and Near. L put his arm around the young woman and pulled her close. Memories of when they would have camp outs in the living room with Beyond, and on occasion Andrew, flooded the young couples memory. L watched Near cuddle the bear just like Anna used to and he smiled.
The room hadn't changed since they were children. Not much about the old house did. The same pale walls, same wooden floors with the same brick fireplace and black rug. L couldn't help but smile at the familiarity of it all. "Should we take them to bed?" He asked turning to look at her.
A smile seemed to have permanently etched itself onto Anna's face and she shook her head, "No, let them stay. Seeing them just brought up some old memories and I wanted you to see." Anna's voice was quiet as she leaned into the detective. L and Anna stood watching the trio sleep as they held one another, lost in the memories of their own childhoods.
Finally, L grabbed Anna's hand, catching her attention, "Come on. Let's let them be." Anna smiled up and nodded before kissing his cheek and following him back to the room.
