Are you are you coming to the tree
A girl ran around the tree laughing as a boy chased her
Coming to the tree where they strung up a man they said murdered three
A rope hung down from a tree branch tied into a noose, no one dared go near
Strange things did happen here
A calm breeze swept through and the tree was the only thing standing in the debris
No stranger would it seem if we met up at midnight in the hanging tree
The girl and the boy sat a little ways from the tree laughing softly on the grass
Are you, are you coming to the tree
The sun rose over the horizon casting a pale pink glow on the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee
A voice called out to no one in the night "Run, Run!"
Strange things did happen here
A boy walked bravely to the tree waiting with his arms crossed
No stranger would it seem if we met up at midnight in the hanging tree
The boy stood in front of the tree fading as the sun came up
Are you, are you coming to the tree
The girl stood by the tree waiting for something, or someone patiently
Where I told you to run so we'd both be free
The same girl was darting through the mass of people with tears streaming from her eyes as she ran
Strange things did happen here
A boy could be seen walking around the tree at night
No stranger would it seem if we met up at midnight in the hanging tree
The girl was smiling as the wind blew her mousy brown hair backwards, and her dress trailed in the wind
Are you, are you coming to the tree
The girl walked towards the tree slowly
Wear a necklace of rope side by side with me
A second rope hung down with a noose tied into it and the girl walked slowly as she was joined by a boy
Strange things did happen here
The boy and girl ran around the tree smiling and laughing
No stranger would it seem if we met up at midnight in the hanging tree
Both collapsed onto the floor with wide smiles on their face as they faded from sight as the sun rose
