"He's always quiet. Never too loud, like the others, but it's just the way he sits there. No noises, no movements, just those creepy eyes that seem to cut right through you. It's scary as hell, man." The room was very quiet, other than the occasional flip of his fellow guard's magazine. They were in the monitoring room for Arkham Asylum Prisoner 294-01: Victor Zsasz. Carl Nooseman was a new guard in the asylum and he was new to the strangeness of its inmates.
"Yeah, well, Zsasz likes to stare you down; he likes to know that he has the fear factor over you, to know that he can screw with you without even touching you. Don't pay attention to him; he'll only get more and more enjoyment out of it." said Nooseman's partner, Hank Ward. Right, thought Carl. Like I'll be able to get those damn beady eyes out of my head; those eyes that are fueling my fear… Carl shook his head and picked up his crossword. An eight-lettered word that is a synonym for insane…
Unhinged. That's the word you dumbass. God, where is the Warden getting these fresher and fresher batches of morons? Zsasz stared down at the crossword from the opposite side of the glass. He'd already figured it out and now he was waiting for the idiot in front of him to give up and look up the answer on his laptop that he kept in the bag his new wife got him for his birthday. Victor had already familiarized himself with the new guy that was working with Zsasz's longtime guard, Hank Ward. "'Oh, Hankie, Zsasz said to him the last time he'd been imprisoned in the asylum, it's been so long since I've seen you! How's the wife? Oh, that's right… I killed her! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! And now days, Hank shot him a look that said to him, I'd kill you right now if I could. Zsasz would always think back, Hank, I feel exactly the same…
But that would have to wait. Unfortunately, Zsasz was… Incapacitated… The full-body metal encasement that he currently resided in was a LITTLE bit of a problem, but he was certain that some antsy criminal next door would burst through his room and accidentally free him. I think that Bane is my neighbor right now. If I've figured this correctly, his muscles will be required by some 'mastermind' and they'll free him. I have a 73% chance that he'll bust through my room to free himself. Maybe I should pray to God for help… HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, man, I'm on a roll tonight.
And so he sat there, no movement, no noises, only silent study and exercising isometrics. He knew that he would get out. It was only a matter of time.
Lunch was in two minutes. In approximately one minute, Carl would pop his head in and say it was time to eat. He'd unlock the maiden and try to type in the extra restraint button to keep him in place. Zsasz knew, however, that Carl was to prone to minor muscle spasms in his hands when he was nervous. And Zsasz knew that he made Nooseman nervous. After he was free, he would reach into the zombie's belt and take his baton and beat him to death. Then he would use his eyeball to open the retinal scanner at the door, finally, he would dash down the hallway and open cells along the way.
Oh Chaos, how I love thee. I thrive in your glorious shine and warmth… Yes, it is good… But he had to act quickly, or he'll be here forever…
58 seconds Later…
The door's locking mechanism unbolted. Zsasz always got goose-bumps whenever he heard it open; only imagining what he'd do to all those zombies… Eternal freedom. He was robbed of it years ago, but these people had a chance; but only he could offer it…
Carl walked to the maiden and pressed the open hatch button. Lovely, it's time to start the show!
To Be Continued…
