Disclaimer: I do not own Lunar Chronicles, Marissa Meyer does. T.E. 127 December 21st Journal of Ferdig Chen, Lumberjack

Today is Her Majesty Queen Selene's birthday. Millions of Lunars have flocked to Artemisia Palace to congratulate her on turning seventeen. However, today will be more special to me than to any other being in this solar system because it is my daughter's birthday. Nearly eighteen years ago, Queen Channary Blackburn seduced me during a lumber delivery, one thing turned into another, and we woke up at dawn. I was sent back to Sector 63, and was notified 9 months later that I had a daughter. I wished I could see her, but that would mean scandal and commoners do not become King Regents. Two years after Selene was born, I met Anita Ramsbottom, and I am happily married with a boy, Feuden Chen. But I can't help but wonder, what if I had raised Selene? She wouldn't have had all this responsibility thrust upon her. We could have been a quaint family of four, raising sheep and cutting wood, living a tolerable life full of love. But these are just childish dreams, and I am not a child, at fourty -two years old. Maybe I will take a DNA test and tell her someday. Someday.
