Karkat fidgeted slightly on the bed, causing Nepeta to glance his way instead of at the cover of the romance novel he was lending her. He seemed...nervous, which was odd. Romance was an area Karkat was very confident in and comfortable with, at least when it came to advising others. He never got jittery discussing that particular topic. It was one of the interests they shared. A thought flashed across Nepeta's brain but she quickly stamped down on it before it took root. It wasn't possible, no matter how wishful her thinking. There was no way she was making him nervous.
Her gaze shifted back to the book, trying to focus on the loopy font of the title and the overly dramatic arrangement of the characters on the cover. She'd been looking forward to reading this one, Karkat having given a glowing recommendation in his typical overly grumpy fashion. She caught movement out of the corner of her eye and felt something soft quickly touch her cheek. An olive blush instantly spread over her cheeks and she finally turned to give a karkat her full attention.
He was pointedly staring at the wall opposite them trying to maintain some form of suave nonchalance. But it was ruined by the ever darkening flush in his cheeks as his composure started to crumble. Nepeta blinked a couple of times as what happened began to register. Then her face broke into a radiant smile that only made Karkat's blush deepen. Without a moment's hesitation, she pounced on him.

Karkat didn't know what he'd expected when he'd kissed Nepeta. All he'd known is that the idea had been hovering in the back of his mind for ages know and he'd wanted to get it out of his system. Maybe he would stop thinking about if her skin was as soft as it looked if he actually touched it. And then he could go back to normal.
Only that hadn't worked. He'd satisfied his curiosity, her skin was in fact that soft, but that only brought on a barrage of new thoughts and questions to haunt him. Were her lips as soft? What did they taste like? Why did she smell so damned good? All he could do in the aftermath of his quick smooch was fight the urge to do it again.
Then with a happy squee she'd tackled him and Karkat ceased thinking entirely as she kissed the living daylights out of him. When she pulled back, her face turning uncertain and concerned, all he could do was stare up at her with what to her appeared to be a face full of shock and quite possibly mild terror. He hadn't known what to expect in terms of a reaction from her but he certainly hadn't expected it to be so enthusiastic. And for him to enjoy it so thoroughly.
Her face grew more worried he longer he didn't reply. He finally mustered the breath and sense to speak. "I think we're going to have to do that again," he managed and received a pleasantly tight hug in response.
"Sure thing Karkitty."
