Silver rays of light from the full moon shone in through the ceiling to floor glass window illuminating everything in the room with a silvery glow. It was both eerie and beautiful at the same time.
He stirred and slightly turned his head as he slowly opened his heavy eyelids. Even at the slightest of movements, he felt that intense pain in his side and his eyes fluttered open in a grimace as he tried to quell the agonizing scream that was waiting on his lips.
"Irial?"
His pain glazed eyes found her worried ones at the sound of her voice and his breath caught in his throat. Was it possible? Ever since she left so many months ago, he only dreamt of her and even that did not satisfy his growing sadness over her leaving. She still looked as beautiful as before, but it seemed to him that her beauty had intensified over the past months. Could it possibly be her? His shadow girl? His mortal? His one true love? His Leslie?
She had let her dark hair grow out and it was now gently sliding down her shoulder as she leaned over him with worry written plain on her face.
"Irial?" she repeated, "Are you—"
"—Leslie—!" he interrupted her and sat up, only adding fire to his wound and he hissed in pain. Then he felt her gentle hands on his shoulder, pushing him back softly, "Don't. You're wounds are still tender."
"Is it really you?" he asked her as he tried to push the shock away.
"It is…" she said softly, "How are you feeling?"
"Like hell." He said simply as he sat up, despite the searing pain it brought and the disapproving look he got from Leslie.
"Tell me, love, why are you here?" he asked her as he glanced sideways at the nightstand to see if there was a box of cigarettes there.
He turned back to her and gave her a playful grin, "Thought you were gone for good."
Leslie flashed him the same playful smile, "Guess I couldn't stay away."
Then her expression changed and putting all jokes behind, she said, "You're right…I just…I came as soon as I could when I heard…that Bananach had hurt you…and well I just wanted to see if you were okay…and you are, so I'm gonna go ahead and go…"
Leslie stood up to leave, but Irial immediately caught her wrist, forgetting for a split second that he was once more a Gancanaugh and that he was putting Leslie in danger of becoming addicted to him.
Then he let go just as fast as he had grabbed her and he thought he saw a sliver of disappointment shine in her eyes.
"Don't go!" he blurted out before his own mind could stop him.
Her eyes widened in surprise and she was speechless. She wanted to go, she didn't want to give in to the temptation that was Irial. That was the reason why she had left. It was because she couldn't take all the Dark Court stuff anymore and she wanted to start a new life, but the pleading look in his blue black eyes made her heart squeeze.
Slowly, she nodded and smiled, "I missed you, Irial."
Then she closed the distance between the two of them and pressed her lips to his in an intimate and passionate long awaited kiss.
