You Can't Always Be the Hero
"Kind of a dramatic way to quit a job." General Hardcastle states as Chloe works setting up her new computer station.
Turning her chair to face the General she replies "We both know they wouldn't have just let me walk away, particularly not into this job. You know what I learned by working with them so long? The world needs heroes but it also needs people like us. People willing to make the hard choices."
"Still having your boyfriend abducted then tortured just so you could trade yourself for him seems a bit extreme." General Hardcastle remarks towering over her.
Turning her head down for a second as she sighs, Chloe answers "First off, it was a good way to prove to you just how serious I'm about this job. Second, looking for me will keep them distracted from what we are doing."
"I'm not convinced of that. It seems to me that you pointed them straight at us. Seems a good way to take us down from the inside. It's no secret you disapproved of your predecessor." General Hardcastle snaps back clearly challenging her.
"I know them like the back of my hand. With only a small fraction of our resources, I can keep them running in circles. You saw my plans. It'll take them months to work their way through it all." Chloe firmly asserts. She knows the General is pissed to be working for her so she does her best to project her authority. This is a new role for her since she is more used to being the sidekick than the leader. "You made your choice Sullivan. Too late to complain about it now. Not even Clark will be able to forgive you for this one." Chloe thinks not allowing herself to think of how Oliver will handle this news when it inevitably comes out. She isn't sure what terrifies her more: Oliver never forgiving her or him being able too.
"When they find us what happens then?" General Hardcastle questions.
"Weren't you paying attention at the briefing General? Did you fall asleep? If all goes as planned they won't find us until I want them to." Chloe declares. The General's fists clench in rage bringing a smirk to Chloe's face. She knows he will have to be watched closely.
Oliver grunts in pain as Dinah rewraps his bruised ribs. "You really should give yourself some time to heal. You won't do her any good if you end up dead." she remarks.
"They have her. Look what they did to me. Can you imagine what Chloe is going through? Until I find her how can I rest?" Oliver states through gritted teeth. Pulling his costume's shirt back on he stands, grabs his bow and heads to the balcony. "Coming?" he asks over his shoulder.
Black Canary is so going to kill Chloe for this when they find her. She just prays Oliver will live that long.
With both hands on the walkway railing, Chloe states to the assembled metahumans in the holding cell below "Listen up. You all owe a debt to society for the trouble you have caused in the past. Today, you get the opportunity to repay that debt. Make no mistake this is your last chance. Welcome to Suicide Squad. Questions?"
"Ya, what if we just kill you and take over?" remarks one particularly nasty metahuman covered in super hard boney plates. Between his boney plates and super strength, he had killed dozens before being captured.
"Simple." Chloe states as she triggers just one of the ways she arranged to kill each one of them. She stands silently letting them all watch as the out spoken one screams as he dies. Once he finally stops twitching on the floor, she asks "Any questions?"
