Chapter One: As Long As He Is Happy

Draco's heart broke as he listened to Harry's ranting. That was when he decided what he was going to do. Draco knew this was going to kill him, but if it was better for Harry, the one person he loved with his whole self other than his fathers, then he had to do it. Even if that meant his own heartbreak.

"Fine. Just fine Harry." Draco said in a frightening calm voice. He then slowly and heartbrokenly took of his wedding ring for the first time since Harry had placed it there two years earlier. "Fine Harry, I release you of this burden and of your lager burden, me! You can go and fine a man that is willing to retire and do what ever you want with. If that is truly what you think. You have my permission." He said trying with all his might not to cry. He handed Harry the ring with a shaking hand. Harry stood there in utter shock watching Draco's every movement. "Harry you deserve a man that will do what you need and want him to do. Apparently I am not that man, so you may go. I will come back later this week to collect my things from our, I mean your home, and then I shall be out of your life for good. I will be spending my resignation papers to Professor Dumbledore. I will then be completely out of your life, Mister Potter. I am letting you go, but remembers Harry, this was not only my choice, but yours as well. Goodbye Harry James Potter!" And with that said, Draco gracefully pulled on his traveling cloak and turned to the door. He was stopped by the sound of Harry's voice.

"But where will you go? This is Malfoy Manner. If you quit teaching you will have no where to go." Harry said hurriedly.

"That is no longer your concern, Mister Potter, now is it? I will find a place to go, rest assured. And if not, I can learn to survive other ways." With that Draco left his childhood home, completely sure that he would never return.
