"You lied

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Thank J.K. Rowling for the amazing characters.

Severus and Lily sat under a tree, legs spread out in front of them. They looked out over the lake, still amazed at its beauty after a whole month of being at Hogwarts.

"You lied Sev." Lily looked up into the resting face of her companion. His eyes were closed and he had a slight smile on his face. She stuck out her lip and elbowed his shin.

"And what exactly did I lie about?" He opened his right eye a bit to see Lily's expression, but quickly shut it when he saw that she was looking at him.

"Being muggle-born. You said it didn't matter. Almost every time I walk through the dungeons, I get a rude comment. Most Slytherins seem to hate me."

"Not this Slytherin. I don't know why, but some think that only those born from a muggle parent are 'unworthy' or something. But I'm only half-blood, so I may be biased. Mum's parents disowned her when she married Tobias, but I guess that's the goal she had in mind. I just don't think she really considered what would happen when he found out." His lips curled downwards and his smile became a small frown. Lily knew what went on in his house, no matter how he tried to hide it.

"You may be a Half-Blood Prince, but you're a Whole Best Friend. And that's all that matters."

"Thanks Lily." He shook his hair forward to hide his reddening cheeks.

"Half-Blood Prince, hmm… I like it! You would be a great prince. No one would ever have to deal with arrogant snot-bags like Potter again."

"You mean like- but there's no Wizarding royalty, Lily. "

"I know, but if there was, you'd be it. I can see it now… Ladies and gentleman, please rise to welcome Prince Severus of Snape. It'd be brilliant!"

"Me? You're joking. I couldn't be royalty, I'm too…" He searched his vocabulary for a word depreciating enough to describe him.

"Too what, Sev? Too modest of course. You'd be amazing." Lily laughed. She was always trying to make him feel better.

"I bet princes never have to do homework. They spend all day relaxing and reading and stuff." Of course, he was referring to the potions assignment that he and Lily were supposed to be working on.

"They probably don't, but Half-Blood Princes do. So let's start this paper." She laughed as she rolled over onto her stomach and picked up her quill. "I don't know about you, but I think it'd be great to be a prince."

"Well, I guess so, but only if you'd be Princess." He smirked and switched his position pulling out a scroll of parchment.

"It's a deal."
