Zuko always knew the instant Sokka fell asleep. He would stop murmuring and take up humming, and after a small amount of time, a brown hand would fall from its place on the young Firelord's side, hitting the mattress with a soft thud. His warm breath would slow on his chest, and his body would slack against him completely. He would look down, and not be met by vibrant blue eyes peering back up at him. After a few minutes, Sokka would start snoring-quietly first, then he'd get louder. It was highly distracting, and didn't do much for letting Zuko fall asleep, but…
…he always hated sleeping alone. He was lonely-which he was used to-and he was cold… Which he wasn't used to. It was too quiet, and pillows don't snuggle back. There was no pleasant weight on his chest, no crazy brown hair in his face. He didn't get a goodnight kiss, or a goodnight hug. He didn't have anyone to talk to, he didn't have a rhythm to concentrate on so he could sleep. It…it was hell.

"Zuko, welcome h-" The rest of Sokka's greeting was cut off by a very, very tired-looking Firelord. "…We're going to bed, and I'm going to sleep. You can grab a scroll or four when I'm changing." …The warrior couldn't find it in him to argue-it was kinda cute that he was Zuko's safety blanket.
I dedicate this one to anyone who has ever seriously needed to snuggle, even though their snugglebuddy was far away! *points to self* Like me! Only in this case, I was the one who was gone (like Zuko, which is weird, cuz I identify more with Sokka most of the time).
So, as you can see, I have another pairing to add to my slew of awesome yaoiness... Zukka! And also genderbent Taang-when Toph's a chick, it doesn't work, but as a guy, I can see it happening. ^_^ Yes, yes, I'm strange! So, thank you for reading, and I may be adding more chapters to this! Who knows? Comments and criticism are appreciated, but I'm not going to beg for them.
Perpetual Amity,
~Mel
