A - Aunt Cass
She was driving as fast as she could to the hospital when she got the call. Cass constantly glanced at the rear view mirror checking on her oldest nephew, Tadashi, trying to make sure he was okay from her insane driving. You could tell that the poor child was nervous and scared just by the way he couldn't sit still in his seat. Cass sighed, "Tadashi, everything will be fine."
I hope so.
The small car quickly swerved into the nearest open parking spot and the two quickly got out of the car.
"I'm looking for Tomeo, Maemi, and Hiro Hamada," Cass asked as she arrived at the front desk out of breath with Tadashi clinging onto her.
"Second floor-" With that said Cass and Tadashi were running up the stairs to the second floor not bothering to find out what room her sister, brother-in-law, and youngest newpher was in. She decided that they could figure out the room number by themselves.
As soon as the two made it to the second floor, Tadashi took off in a desperate need to find his younger brother and make sure that he was okay. Cass closed her eyes, took a deep breath before continuing after her nephew. She caught a glimpse of Tadashi making his way into a room and quickly followed after. When Cass walked through the door, she found her youngest nephew laying on the hospital bed. The site of Hiro hooked up to an IV and covered in in bandages broke her heart.
"Aunt Cass, is Hiro alright?" asked Tadashi his voice cracking as he heard his aunt walk in.
"I'm sure he is, sweetheart." She murmured as she placed her arms around Tadashi's shoulders.
"Where's mom and dad?" asked Tadashi turning around in his aunt's arms.
"Hello, excuse me." Interrupted a doctor who stood at the doorway with a clipboard in his arms. "Are you Cass Hamada?"
Cass nodded her head.
"May I speak with you outside?" asked the doctor. Cass was already dreading what the doctor had to say. She could tell some had bad happen just by how the doctor was talking.
"Of course. Tadashi, can you stay here with your brother?" Asked Cass as she removed her arms from the boy and followed after the doctor. The doctor closed the door behind them and led Cass down the hallway just a bit.
"I have some good news and some bad news," Began the doctor, bring his clipboard down to rest by his side. "The good news is that Hiro is perfectly fine. Just some cuts and bruises from the crash, however there is a possibility that he will suffer from PTSD."
"What about my sister and brother-in-law" Asked Cass.
"That's the bad news. Tomeo and Maemi did not survive the crash. I'm sorry." Said the doctor sincerely placing a hand on Cass' shoulder in a comforting gesture as Cass tried to hold back a sob. "Now, Ms. Hamada, I need to know if you're willing to take custody of the boys."
Cass sniffled for a minute longer before replying, "O-of course! They're my nephews!"
The doctor gave a small smile, "I'll make a phone call and get you the paperwork as soon as possible. I am so sorry for your loss."
Wiping away her tears, Cass slowly made her way back into the hospital room to find Tadashi sitting in the bed with Hiro wrapped around his body in a tight hug. Cass walked over to sit on the other side of Hiro and engulf the two boys in a tight hug.
I promise to take good care them for you, Maemi. I promise.
