Prologue:
A dim light in the rain lit the way, as an older man made his way into the temple ruins. Stumbling and slipping through the mud he continued his journey, into the deep into bowels of the ruins. Into the heart of it all.
There was a musty smell lingering in the air, but the traveler didn't stop, Pokemon or not he had come too far to turn back. But the smell was gut-wrenching, the man held his breath, eyes beginning to water as the smell grew nearer and nearer to him.
The sound of another's feet in the mud stopped him in his tracks. He turned swiftly around to see who was following him, but nothing was there. The man scanned the room, eyes darting back and forth for a couple of seconds before continuing.
He had been walking for what seemed like an hour or two now, and finally sat down to rest. The man grumbled to himself, sitting up against the fungi-ridden stone walls.
"I'm glad you've finally made it, Sullivan." The voice was cold, emotionless. The temperature seemed to drop in unison.
The agile old man shivered and jumped to his feet, "Show yourself coward!"
A snicker. "Certainly, my friend." Sullivan went to move towards the sound, but something was wrong, with each step it felt like he was being grabbed and forced to stop. The candle light showed the Earth below him slowly sucking him under, could this be it? "You're just as gutless as your father!" Sullivan grew angry, "Using tricks to win your battles. Where's your honor, Cedric? Where's your heart?"
"You talk a lot for a man who's about to die. Do you really want those to be your last words?" The voice finally manifested, in the flickering candle light a face emerged. A young man, with a single pokeball in his hand. He juggled it as his grin grew more and more contorted. "I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, old man." The pokeball was tossed in front of the old man.
A bright flash illuminated the dark hallways, for only a second, a large humanoid beast stood strong in the fog. "It.. What is it?" Cedric was still smiling, the creature seemed to have a pressure exerting from it, making Sullivan uncomfortable. "Deoxys, use psychic." The Pokemon lifted its entwined arms, pointing them at the old man. "No! St-" his final breath was a scream, a desperate, horrified scream before his head imploded from the attack. His body drooped, still trapped in the mushy soil. "Death was Nature's way of telling you to slow down, Sullivan." Cedric licked the splattered blood from his lips, "And this is only the beginning." His laugh trailed off crazily as they walked, returning to the darkness.
