The moment Kurt heard about the gunshots that were fired in McKinley, his life became a blur and before he knew it, he was sitting on a plane that was two minutes from landing in Ohio. He had to know if Blaine was ok. Well, he did know he was ok since he talked to him on the phone. Blaine said that everyone was ok. He told Kurt that no one got hurt and that the suspect was in the hands of the Lima police.
I don't care.
He had to see Blaine for himself to know for sure that Blaine was ok. He didn't care about what needed to be done for NYADA or for Vogue at the moment because they didn't compare to his ex-boyfriend.
Ex-boyfriend.
A term that Kurt had said time and time again when being badgered by Santana, and Burt, and even Puck - the softie at heart, who sometimes likes to call at weird times just to see how everyone was doing - about the ambiguous relationship that they think he has with Blaine. A term that had been said through lies.
Lies.
Lies that he didn't know he was telling. Lies that he was telling his heart. But he didn't know it, nor did he mind. Because this is Blaine we're talking about. He would drop anything to know that Blaine is truly ok. He even spent the money he was saving for that new Marc Jacobs jacket from the Spring line. To those around him, that knew him well, they knew that Kurt spending that money for something other than that jacket was a big deal. Even to Adam.
Adam.
The cute blond with the adorable accent. The guy who is currently trying to woo Kurt. The guy who currently knows that it is a longshot to have Kurt love him. He knows. He knows that Kurt's heart already belongs to someone else. But he's still trying. Because Kurt is hurt and their friends and they like each other and there is that minuscule chance that maybe Adam can be the guy that heals him.
But Kurt didn't care. He didn't care that about this Adam guy, at least not in the was he does Blaine. Kurt likes Adam but he doesn't love him like Blaine. And most certainly, Kurt didn't care he was doing all this for his ex-boyfriend.
And as soon as the plane's wheels touched down, he knew. He knew all the lies that was told - to his friends, to his dad, to himself. He knew because the moment he heard about the gunshots fired in McKinley, he instantly thought of Blaine and if he was hurt and if there was a chance he would never see him again. In that moment, Kurt knew he can't live without the love of his life.
