Of all the things in the world, there are few things that will elicit that fleeting feeling of warmth like a genuine smile. For you, the world changed on a day no one else would've noticed.
As you were leaving your meagre living space for work one morning, a heavenly voice called out to you.
"SMIIIIILE!" The brightly colored girl in a purple trimmed sailor outfit yelled at you.
She smiled as well, a gleeful expression of pure contentedness with the world. Her face may have been twisted into a strange shape by her unusual eyes, but there was beauty still in her figure and soul.
Smile eh? It wasn't that hard, and just looking at the girl, there was a warmth in your heart. You found yourself smiling, happy just to be happy.
Thank you, you thought; for your gift, strange girl.
Just when you thought the encounter was over, the girl skipped forwards, stopping a distance from you.
"My dream is to make the world smile! Don't doubt me, I believe in you too!"
Her pure irradiance spoke volumes to you. The natural perfection of her life's philosophy ordered you to not complain about the little things, to never fret over errors so far beyond your minute "control" if you would even go as far to call it that. To live for yourself, but not in a selfish way. As the girl strode away, she clasped her hands together as if to pray, but soon threw them out as if she wanted to hug the world.
"NEPYGYAAAA!" She charges away, fleeing down a labyrinth of twisted alleys and side streets but the changes are complete. You want to make the world smile too.
In the early motions of the piercing chill of another late fall morning, you laze around your meagre dwelling, enjoying your days off. Crisp leaves swirl outside your window, drawing your attention.
WHAT!?
THAT FACE!? In the corner of the window!? It's the girl from last time!
You can tell by her lips that she said "Let me in~!"
It must be freezing outside given that she only wears a simple sailor uniform. As you unlock the rear door to let her in, she brushes a few orange and brown leaves out of her long purple hair.
"Have you been happy?" asks the girl.
"I suppose. I never got your name, who are you?"
The girl's bizarre expression twists into a proud smile, blush and all.
"NEPUGYAH!"
Your hands fly to cover your ears, but it's too late, Nepgya has already tried to deafen you. She's still beaming despite her borderline scream.
The "special" guest nears you, still grinning.
"I just came by to see if you were doing JUST WONDERFUL!"
You sigh, smiling. Nepgya's toothy grin only intensifies.
"That's the spirit!"
Nepgya embraces you suddenly and without warning, nuzzling you with her head.
"Always be happy! It's contagious!"
She backs away.
"There! I gave you my 'happy' germs, now keep working on the quest I gave you!"
"N-Nepgya…"
"Don't be afraid out there! I believe in you! Think of all of your friends that believe in you and new ones you've made! (Unless they're an ancient CPU)"
"What was that last bit about?"
Gya just keeps smiling. The pause becomes long and awkward, which takes a similar amount of time for Nepgya to realize.
"I'll be going then! The more you're happy, the more you'll be happy!"
Goodbye?
