Disclaimer: I don't own Teen Titans.

"Is that even legal?" Shadow asks, quickly putting out two sets of utensils on his small oak table. "I mean, don't you need to be an adult to do that? And wouldn't I need to be younger?" Despite the apparent caution in his voice, excitement is evident.

"Dude, I'm not adopting you. You'd just be taking my last name as your own." Beast Boy laughs. He takes a seat and waits patiently for his "Little Brother" to set the food down. "As for it being legal... Robin said probably; and at worst he'd be willing to pull a few strings to get it through."

"That's... That's..." The pale boy falters, at a loss for words. "That's perfect." His voice cracks as he says this, and the changeling can see tears barely being held back.

"Shatamara..." Beast Boy sighs, grinning, as he uses the younger boy's civilian name. "It's not like this is a big deal. It's just a name."

"But it is a big deal!" He protests, voice raising slightly. "It would be the first time I've really ever had a family!"

"You've had a family before." The shapeshifter points out.

"They sold me to be tortured in a lab for four years, and only after working me half to death for the entire time I lived with them." Shadow deadpans. "They aren't any family of mine."

"Fair point." Beast Boy sighs. "I suppose I at least knew that my parents actually loved me, and it showed. You never had that luxury."

"Exactly." The pale boy responds, his voice going hoarse. "That's why this is a big deal. You're one of the few people who cares for me like a brother. To become part of a family... YOUR family, however small. It would be the best thing that ever happened to me."

The changeling looks across the table at the one who he has considered a brother ever since they first met. You don't find someone you can connect with like that very often, so, to an extent, Beast Boy understands the importance of this for the lonely hero.

To be honest, he wants this as much as Shadow. The changeling has had many families over the years: his parents, the Doom Patrol, currently the Titans, and now... A proper brother. Perhaps to be only in name and not blood, but a brother nonetheless.

"Big Brother."

Beast Boy looks up from his plate. He meets the strange eyes of Shadow: black irises and red pupils.

"Yes?"

"When can it be done?"

The green hero grins. He reaches over to the small bag he brought with him and pulls out a stack of papers. He hands them over to the pale boy who looks at him in confusion.

"By the end of today." Beast Boy responds, still grinning. "Robin is dealing with technicalities as we speak. All you need to do is sign the dotted lines."

To say the moment of signing was dramatic would be a lie. It was actually an incredibly tedious and repetitive affair, but when the last line was signed a massive smile could be seen breaking out on both heroes faces'.

Sadly, the emotional moment is cut short by a flashing alert from Shadow's computer. The two heroes, now true brothers rather than just brothers in arms, rush out the back door and up onto the roof before dashing across the rooftops to deal with whatever crisis has arisen.

Garfield Mark Logan, A.K.A. Beast Boy followed his new brother; the Night Shadow, A.K.A. Shatamara Logan, across the rooftops and towards the central festival square.

One-shot complete. Just a little story about BB and Shadow. Ever since I had BB refer to Shadow as "Little Brother" way back in Bobpocalypse I thought it would be kinda cool if it became more than just a joke. Family is quite important to the Titans I think. Each of them have had family problems, often having lost parents and/or siblings, so I thought this would be fitting.
