A/N: I got this idea from another story I've read. But it wasn't about this, really. But the parts I liked about that story was the voice I could hear so clearly in my head. I could imagine the snarl on Leon's face as he talked. I wanted something like that I guess, so I wrote this.
Enjoy!
Do you know what true fear is? I'm not talking about being scared of a horror movie, or screaming when someone jumps up and surprises you. No, not that. I'm talking about true fear. The fear that comes along with a close call with death. Have you ever experienced that? Could you feel your heart pounding so hard you thought it might pop out of your chest? Did you hear it? Did your body tense up and your throat suddenly go dry? Have you ever seen a dead man come back to life? Did you notice their sightless eyes and their need to feed? Did you?
Probably not.
You probably think all of this is nothing but fiction, nothing but fantasy. Dead can't come back to life. All that mumbo-jumbo just isn't real. It's something for the video games and the movies.
Sorry to tell you, but you're wrong. Oh, so very wrong. They're real. Don't believe me? Well, you should. These things cause mayhem wherever they go. And for all you know, it could all be happening under your feet.
And it gets worse. Trust me. They're not brought back to life by magic. These things—they're manmade. They're brought back by science. They're made by people who think they can become the god of a new world, a world where their monsters wreak havoc among us. They even experiment on humans. Fantastic, huh? No? Well, they seem to think so. They don't care who you are or where you came from; you're a potential experiment in their eyes.
Oh, an outbreak? Blow the damn town up! They say. Kill a few thousand people. No problem! We'll just move the lab. Cold sadistic bastards.
But they tell you you're safe, that they aren't do anything dangerous. That the virus, is in fact, very safe.
Yeah, about as safe as handling a bomb.
No, you have never been truly afraid. Not until you see these things for yourselves, not just the zombies, but the monsters the virus creates as well. Not until you're back's against the wall. Not until you pull that trigger and nothing but a faint click sounds. Not until you see one of these… these abominations kill someone right in front of you. Not until you find yourself praying to a god you claimed you didn't believe in. Oh, no, not until you feel the teeth sinking into your flesh.
But trust me; you don't want to know what true fear feels like.
A/N: Oh, yesterday I got my first bad review. D: Usually I would've taken it to heart and stopped writing, but it didn't affect me. I had already gotten good reviews on my other stories and knew I should keep writing. So, to those of you who reviewed: Thank you. :3
