Disclaimer: I do not own Monk.

There are many ways to begin a letter, most of which are simple. Generally, letters are opened with 'Dear So-and-so,' or with the receivers' name. On occasion, letters have an introduction of 'To whom it may concern.' However, Natalie was beginning to see a different pattern in letter openings from the entertainment industry.

Never had she seen a letter open with 'I've written this letter a thousand times before but could never find the right words to say,' in anything other than movies and books. It seemed clichéd, really. She, most certainly, had never begun a letter like that. She also had no doubt that her boss would never open a letter like that either.

She believed any words Mr. Monk deemed necessary to say would come to him easily. However, in her minds' eye, she could see him writing something similar. It would read 'I've written this letter a thousand times before but could never get all the words properly aligned.'

Most people would read such an opening and perceive it to be overly eccentric and unrealistic. However, should they voice that to anyone who knows Mr. Monk, they would merely get laughed at. Honestly, let's face it, that opening would be completely believable to anyone who knows him. It suited Mr. Monk perfectly.
