It was past noon and the black haired child was still in his cot in the corner of the makeshift orphanage. His eyes may have been closed but he was fully aware of his surroundings. What was the point of getting up anymore?
Yuusei's fist hit the wall next to his bed. The force of the punch left a dent in the tin wall. He didn't even remember living in Tops. How could kids learn to be so cruel at such a young age? It's just not fair...
He felt a weight on the end of his bed and cracked his left eye open. An unfamiliar red head -not that he made an effort to know the other kids- was sitting at the foot of his bed kicking the air with his feet. "What do you want?"
The boy shrugged his shoulders. "My name is Crow." He said cheerfully, smiling at Yuusei.
Yuusei rolled over in his bed facing away from the boy.
Crow narrowed his eyes before he crawled across Yuusei's bed to get in his line of sight. "What's your name?"
"Dammit, get off my bed." Yuusei hissed pushing Crow into the wall not realizing the ineffectualness of his plan.
"You're always by yourself." Crow pointed out the obvious to the raven haired boy in front of him.
Yuusei sat up in his bed now. His joints screamed in pain as he did so. Nevertheless he managed to push the red head so hard into the wall that it shook. He could feel the other kids eyes on him again.
Crow's small hands wrapped around Yuusei's forearm. Fear had manifested deep in his blue eyes. "You don't want to be alone anymore." Yuusei's grip tightened on his collar. He coughed. "You never answered my question."
Crow didn't struggle underneath him, he just watched Yuusei. His eyes were full of trust and warmth despite their steel color. Yuusei let go and sat back on the bed.
"Yuusei."
Crow smiled and latched onto Yuusei, his arms wrapping around his shoulders and hugging the older boy against his body. "I wont let you be alone ever again, Yuusei." Yuusei felt his insides flip as he relaxed in the boy's arms. The feeling was unfamiliar and but not unwanted. He hugged Crow back, still feeling the disapproving glares of the other children on his back, but for the first time he didn't care.
