Too Young? I think not!
"Finn, seriously, dude. You've been in here playing BMO for three days. Don't you think we're due for an adventure?" muttered Jake from the ceiling. It was no exaggeration. The dog had been trying his best to prove himself a faithful buddy, but it was just too much. He had resorted to stretching himself around the ceiling for entertainment. The boredom was beginning to consume his very existence.
Finn coughed in response, dodging a small cupcake that Jake threw at him.
"Finn? Hello? Ooo to Finn?"
BMO paused. "Yes, Jake?" Finn rolled his eyes, picking up the cupcake and nibbling on it, warily. He even looked sick. His eyes were all dark around the edges and his skin was as pale as Marceline's.
"I was just sayin'," said Jake again, "that I think we're due for an adventure."
"Bluh." said Finn and picked up BMO again. Even the computer looked tired out, "I can't go outside, dude, I'm depressed."
Jake stretched back into his normal size, catapulting his body weight so hard that he bounced onto his back. He resisted the urge to giggle.
"C'mon. I found you the Flame Princess! You even said it yourself: you like her!"
"Not like Bubblegum." Finn pouted, leaning back into conveniently placed sack of feathers.
"Bubblegum is eighteen, man. That's illegal not to mention inappropriate and weird."
"I don't care."
"You should care! You want a reputation as a good dude, not a weird dude, right?"
"I don't care."
Jake sighed. It was pointless. "Look, man. If you wanna talk about being a weird dude, go to the Ice King. He'll have some pointers. Not that he has much luck scoring princesses, either. But if you wanna be a righteous dude who goes down in history for being awesome, we can go back to how we were."
He meandered over to Finn and patted him on the shoulder, sympathetically.
"Or I can just wait until I'm eigh-OH MY GLOB, JAKE! That's it! I don't have to wait until I'm eighteen! I can become eighteen now! Science!"
Finn jumped to his feet, smiling broadly, as BMO heaved a sigh of relief. The human hopped into his shoes, grabbed his backpack and jumped directly down out of the tree house, closely followed by Jake. His eyes were big and bright as if the whole world made sense. Jake smiled too. He was super grateful to see his bro feeling better.
"What time is it?" yelled Finn into the silence.
"Adventure time!" answered Jake.
They fist-bumped and set off.
