Remus woke early. Stretching his tight back muscles against the stiffness from then night before he uncurled his legs from where they lay intertwined with Sirius's and walked slowly and groggily to the dorm window, where the cool fingers of dawn were creeping up the side of the distant hills.

He watched patiently as the dawn broke its way over the grounds of Hogwarts. This exact time only a year ago he and Sirius had just been friends. Friends, nothing more, nothing less. Close but not too close, and now, this. Whatever this was. It was many things and it was nothing all at the same time. They kissed but didn't snog, slept in the same bed but didn't do anything public or embarrassing, nothing that could tarnish the head boy's reputation or push him too far. They took it slowly instead, one day at a time, slowly feeling out boundaries or, if Sirius was drunk (a likely occurrence), each other.

Jealousy was occasionally an issue as was protectiveness. Remus was jealous of Sirius and his easy charm, the way girls looked at him when he took his top off outside in the summer, nothing was public so he couldn't say – or do – anything about it, but Sirius wasn't fazed. Gone were his days of cheating, of one-night-stands and of public displays, he was all for Remus now. The first and only person he was sure was 'the one' even at the tender age of fifteen. Sure that he was going to marry him. Which was how Remus came to be at the dormitory window at 4:30 on a Saturday morning.

Sirius had been so happy when Remus told him. He had wanted to take it this far for a while but Sirius was not one for pressuring his boyfriend, when he was ready, he was ready and Sirius was prepared to wait but he had not anticipated it being so soon. 4 months to be precise. And it had been good, so good, better than Remus would ever have thought it would be. And it was with Sirius. The only person he was sure he loved.
