Sirius Black ran. He simply didn't know what else he could do. He didn't even know where he could go. He could stay with James, but he didn't want to be an intrudion on his happy family. He couldn't stay with Remus, they had enough trouble already. He didn't know anything bout Peter's family so that was defiantly out of the question. So instead, he ran.

Rain poured down on him and the thunder above him cracked like it was laughing at him. Sirius didn't know much, all he knew was that he had to get away from that house. He had to get away from his mother, and father, and brother. Their pure-blood obsession was sick and too much for him to bear. Seeing the heads chopped off of the shoulders of house elves was disgusting, and made him want to through up the nonexistent content in his empty stomach. But instead, he ran.

His wet black hair hit his face and neck, his clothes stuck to his body, and he felt unreasonably cold for it to be a summer night. He ran all the was to the nearest town, then he proceeded to walk inside of a dirty pub. He wanted to drink, but he was still a year away from the legal drinking age. So instead, he sat at a table in the dark and wondered where he could go. He could just leave and never come back, but he would miss school and his friends too much. He could stay at the Leaky Cauldron, but he only had enough money to afford about a months stay. He would need to stay for two.

Sirius heard a faint pop indicated the appearance of somebody by apparition. He looked up and saw an older man that he instantly recognized. The man went by the name of Wilhelm Potter, father of Sirius's best friend, James Potter.

Sirius sank down into his chair, hoping to not be seen. He very much so respected Mr. Potter and his family, but if he saw Sirius, then Sirius would be forced to go with him. He wanted to, he really did, but he would only get in the way of their happy lives. He refused to be an unneeded burden on them. He refused to be a nuisance Then, Mr. Potter started heading his way, and Sirius knew that it was too late to escape.

Mr. Potter shook the water out of his hair, before taking a seat across from Sirius.

"Sirius, what are you doing here?" Mr. Potter asked, his voice seeping with concern.

"Family thing. I just ended up here." Sirius answered unwillingly.

"You know that you can come and stay with us right?" Mr. Potter set his elbows on the table and rested his chin on his laced fingers.

"Yes, sir. James told me. I don't want to intrude."

"You wouldn't be intruding, Sirius. James loves you like a brother, and you know that Mrs. Potter and I love having you over. Why don't you come back with me? You can stay with us however long you need." Mr. Potter gave Sirius a sincere smile.

"Really, Mr. Potter that isn't . . ."

"I'm not going to take no for an answer, Sirius."

"I figured that."

Mr. Potter stood up and Sirius followed.

"James will be every happy to have you staying with us." Sirius only nodded his head.

"Mr. Potter, how did you know what I was?" Sirius asked looking straight at the man.

"There are a couple of people in your family that care about you. Let's just say that, I got word that you had left, and I knew you would come to the village closest to your house. Now come on, Sirius. Let's go home."

Sirius gave Mr. Potter and weak smile, before grabbing the man's arm and side-appariting to the Potter home.
