Daybreak
I looked up curiously to see who had entered the library. It was a tall, muscular boy, with reddish-brown hair. When he asked the library aide where the computer databases were, I noticed his thick British accent. As he turned to the stairs, he caught my eye. I stared for a moment, then looked away in embarrassment. He had looked at me with nothing but curiosity and wonder, but his stare had sent an electric jolt through me. I closed my textbook and got up to leave. As I turned, I ran smack into him. I dropped my Advanced Forestry book and stumbled over the right words to say. He smiled and quickly stooped to pick my book up. He handed it to me and smiled, portraying a dazzling set of pearly whites. I stopped for a moment, stunned, but quickly recovered. I went to walk past him, but he caught me as I stumbled yet again. "How about I take you home?" I smiled clumsily and nodded. "That sounds good. Do you have a car?" I asked. He shook his head no. "Sadly, we'll have to walk." I smiled. "That's okay." He took my backpack and slung it over his shoulder easily. He put his arm around my shoulders and we walked out the door. I turned and winked at Jade and Daniel and saw that they were wearing two very different facial expressions. Jade looked astonished and Daniel looked disdainful. I laughed as Jade made a kissy face. "What's funny, love?" he asked. "My friends." He smiled, as though he knew what they were doing.
