There once was a website named Myspace. Myspace was your average
website. It liked to interact with its users, be pummeled with
comments, and enjoyed HTML code. Myspace had a friend named Eleanor.
It was Eleanor's very favorite website. Myspace liked to read all
of Eleanor's naughty messages to her friends. It eagerly awaited
the end of the school day, when Eleanor would faithfully come back to
it. One day, however, Eleanor received a comment that would change
Myspace's life forever.
It was December 2nd,
2007. Eleanor had rushed home from school to check her beloved
website. She had a few friend requests which she looked through. It
was the usual - thirty-two year old men from Nebraska whom she had
never heard of. She had a couple birthday announcements, too. Her
friend, Katherine, was going to turn fifteen in a couple days. Good
thing Myspace had reminded her! She would have forgotten poor
Katherine's birthday! Then, what would have happened to that
friendship? However, due to Myspace's faithful birthday
announcements, she would be able to get Katherine a present in a
timely fashion. Next, Eleanor checked her comments. She had the usual
array of comments spam-like in nature, but she also had one from her
friend named Jack.
It read, "OMG elnor u hav
2 check out tihs site calld facebook!!!!1oneone"
So, Eleanor headed on over to face . It was similar to
her beloved Myspace, yet dissimilar all at the same time. It
was new, exciting. She registered under the network for her high
school. And that's how it began. From that day on, when Eleanor ran
home from school, it wasn't to check her Myspace. Instead, Eleanor
would check Facebook.
As the days rolled by,
Myspace began to get depressed. Eleanor hadn't come to visit it in,
lyek, a week. So, it decided to do some investigating. It followed
the URL that Jack had given to Eleanor on that fateful day. And
that's when Myspace first encountered Facebook. And Facebook? Well…
Myspace couldn't even describe how glorious Facebook was. Myspace
wanted to remain unnoticed, though, so it crept back into its own
URL.
After that, Myspace was acting very
glitchy. All it could think about was Facebook… Those beautiful
walls, the applications, and the networks… Myspace had to see
Facebook again. It crept back out of its own URL and into Facebook's.
Facebook took notice of the intrusion this time. Myspace timidly
approached the confused-looking Facebook. Determined to win Facebook
as its love… Myspace gave Facebook its URL.

Two years later, a new website was released. It was called… Myface. And everyone lived happily ever after, save for Jack. He got hit by a bus due to his atrocious spelling and overuse of the exclamation mark.
