Darkness slinks leaving her with no sense of her surroundings. There was not a single thing in sight except for stalactites that seem to be staring intently on her like a predator to its prey. The whole place reeks of despair, death and evil.
A few feet away from this pit stood a girl. She was pale with dark brown hair that resembles the waves of the sea. She looked hauntingly beautiful, more like a ghost from a horror movie than a princess from a fairytale. If not for her labored breathing, she could pass off as a normal dead soul from Erebus. Her astounding purple eyes were glazed, like she was in some kind of trance.
"You've some so far, my dear. Just a little bit closer. Come a little bit closer."
At the back of her mind, she knew that this is wrong, madness even. If she walks further, this would be the last thing that she will see. She wanted to run. Far away from this place, from the voice that even from a great distance emanates pure evil. But she knows that she can't. Not only because it seemed like her feet was being dragged by a thousand invisible ropes but also, this may be her only chance to save him.
"You promised me. And on the River Styx that if I come and take his place, you would let him go. You would do him no harm." A tear trickled down her cheek.
"Yes, I promise you and upon the River Styx. I would let him go. Even for me, that's the most serious oath I can take. Now come, I have something for you, only for you."
A shrilly sound seemed to fill the air. It may have been a laugh, only it sounded more like hundreds of Styrofoam on a metal shredder.
"Turn back. This is not the place for you." Even the spirits of the dead thinks well than me.
She walked slowly, fearfully approaching the end of the cavern. She folded her hands across her heart and thought about him for the last time before total darkness engulfs her.
"Goodbye, my love."
