Note: This fan fiction is in third person omniscient. Therefore, it is not from Illumi, Killua, or any characters point of view.

Illumi never found anything wrong with being an assassin. To him there was no need for loyalty outside of the family. Illumi had no understanding why his little brother wanted to be with someone so weak or why their father had ever let him go away with Gon in the first place. He would say that his brother had always been so good and obedient before running away, but that would not be entirely true. Illumi always noticed Killua had a rebellious attitude and showed emotional weakness.

"Why does he disobey my warning and make friends?" Illumi thought aloud. The Zaoldyeck estate was a very open place so there was no one around to hear his thoughts.

"Is our family not satisfactory enough for him?"

"I am only trying to protect you, Killu." In Illumi's perspective he could easily justify manipulating his young sibling to protect him.

"Killu thinks of us as his enemies, but he will thank us one day." Illumi knew he was only trying to reassure himself, but pushed that thought away.

It was painfully clear not only to Illumi, but all of the Zaoldyeck family that Killua would never thank them and he would not return home to continue the life of an assassin.
