Disclaimer: I in no way own Gilmore Girls, or any part of it.

It wasn't that Emily hated Lorelai. Sure, she disapproved of her at times, but in no way did she hate her. What she did hate, however, was seeing Lorelai repeat her own mistake, but then make the right choice, to keep the child.

Lorelai Gilmore sat at the bar in Luke's Diner, sipping on coffee as she tactfully flirted with Luke, the owner of the diner, when a strange man walked in. No, it wasn't that he was unusual looking, just unfamiliar, in fact, he looked quite good. Or at least Lorelai thought so.
Cutting her conversation with Luke short, she rose out of her seat and approached the man.
"Hi, I'm Lorelai Gilmore. New around here?" she asked, sticking out her hand for him to shake.
He took her hand and replied, "Yeah, sorta. I'm Elijah."
"Like the hobbit guy?" Lorelai asked quickly. Her reference to dinky middle-earth creatures was obviously the first thought in her head, and she blushed a little as she realized this was probably a little rude.
Elijah took it very well though and laughed, saying, "I guess so, if you want to think of it that way."
There was a sort pause as it seemed that each one of them was thinking, "Well, what now?"
Lorelai spoke first however. "Well, I was just on my way out," she lied, "see around Elijah," she said trying the name out on her tongue. She liked it, and already, she liked him.

Later the same day, the doorbell rang at the large Gilmore Estate. The maid, as was her duty, answered the door.
"No soliciting," she said, pointing to the sign posted next to the door.
"Oh, I wasn't. I mean, I'm not selling anything," said the man standing in the doorway. "I'm looking for an Emily Gilmore."
"Oh, well, come on in," said the maid, opening the door wider and stepping out of the way as the man entered the house. "May I take your coat?"
"Oh, thank you, but I'm alright. I don't expect to be staying long."
"Very well," replied the maid, and she scuttled off to track down Mrs. Gilmore.
A short while later, Emily Gilmore came down the hall and into the entrance way, muttering about unscheduled appointments. "Who are you?" she asked in her usual rude, forward way. Looking him over, he obviously did not quite meet her requirements.
"I'm. Elijah," said the man.
Emily took in a quick breath of air. It was not a gasp, yet it could still be heard quite clearly. "Elijah, we don't know any Elijah's," she said, obviously too quickly to be taken as the truth.
"Aren't you Emily Gilmore?" he asked. Emily nodded, drew a long breath, and looked at her shoes, an unusual practice for her. "But you aren't." Elijah's voice faded out, but it didn't matter because Emily had chosen to speak. Very softly, but because Elijah had stopped speaking she could be heard.
"Yes, I am your mother."

Please review - input input input!
Also just a note: I don't know how old Emily is or how old she was when she had Lorelai, or anything else that would let me calculate how old Elijah should be (so I decided to have him be young enough for Lorelai to be interested in him). If anyone has any information, please let me know - I would great appreciate it!
