Alright everyone who follows me (I appreciate every follow, especially you two), I am back from my long served hiatus and am back. Don't worry, I will update the X-Men fanfic. But to tide you over, here is a preview of my new Walking Dead fanfic! I will be saving three characters, so see if you can guess which three. I might also take votes for a fourth character to save, so have fun reading and start voting!
Prelude: Sign of the Times
It had been several months since the world decided to go to shit. It was hard in the beginning to survive but somehow, I managed to scrape by. I just wish someone was here with me. Especially, my best friend Axel, or maybe Natalie. I blinked back the tears at the thought of her. I couldn't help but cry at the thought of when I lost her, especially so early on.
But I kept moving, in some hope, however vain that I would find a group and survive for longer. I was just outside of Atlanta, a few kilometres from the CDC. It was the first place I went for answers, but also the worst place to go. Afterwards I hid in a house outside the city, before deciding today that I had to move on. I had pillaged most of the surrounding houses for their supplies; ammunition, food, water, and anything else I might find useful.
I made my way back to my car, and placed my new found supplies in back. After reloading my rifle, I placed it in the back seat before fumbling around my pocket for my car keys. As I was searching, I came across my lucky guitar pick. In that brief moment I smiled, remembering who I once was, before finally pulling out my keys. Before I could start the ignition though, I heard an explosion from several miles behind me. I shook in fear knowing that I had to leave, before hundreds, maybe thousands of those things showed up.
My name is Duncan McGregor. I was a doctor at Atlanta general, a Christian, a guitar player, and a fiancé. Now, I am a survivor driving away from the smouldering ruins of what was once the CDC. May God help whoever was near the explosion, and for what lies ahead of them in the future. Surely, this is a Sign of the Times.
