He wasn't asking for much. All he ever wanted was to go on forever- to outlast that bitch of a grandmother he had.
And no, he would never be content to just wither away like she was, sitting next to some pool. He didn't like being forgotten.
Some may have called him childish for wanting to be the best, but he knew he was more than qualified. The only reason she had won is that he hadn't accounted for anyone being stronger than she had been, much less the both of them- old and young, poison specialist and medic nin; old dry sand and young green leaf- to come at him together.
All the same, he had nearly won. He had known she would figure it out, but he didn't expect it to be so hard to get away from her grabbity-grabbity wrinkled prune hands.
He had no idea why the two of them had been left there, but he wasn't complaining. He went out- and he knew he would regret it forever if that bitch got killed by anyone but him.
So yeah, he supposed he did care for her, in some fucked-up way.
So what?
It doesn't matter much to him now anyway.
