I don't own Pokémon, but you knew this already.
Threat from Above
Black… everywhere I looked all I saw was black… no grass, no trees, just a never-ending sea of black. And what made it worse was that I was all alone. Normally I'd act confident. Sometimes my trainer said I was a bit over-confident. But at the moment I was feeling anything but confident.
"Where is everybody?" I wondered out loud, surprising myself when my voice echoed back at me. Now that I thought about it the only thing I heard was the beating of my own heart and a strange whistling sound coming from… oh no! My eyes immediately went up. Right then my fears were confirmed. Plummeting towards me was an orange orb, one I was all too familiar with.
"I've got to get out of here!" I began running, moving as fast as my feet would allow. But no matter where I ran the orb followed me.
Right…
Left…
Right again…
Back to the left…
It didn't matter. It followed my every move as if I had a tracking beacon on me somewhere. Well, if running wasn't going to work then I might as well try to fight it.
"I am not going to let you get me this time! Take this!" I opened my mouth, letting a fast-moving stream of bubble shot forth. The attack hit the orb, but it just cut through them with ease. I was frustrated, but this was no time to panic.
"Alright… try this one!" I gathered a large amount of water over my head and used it to create a swirling vortex. I hurled it at the orb, but once again it tore through. Now I was beginning to panic. Those were the only chances I had at stopping this thing.
"Oh man… now what do I do?" As I stared up at the orb, watching it grow ever closer, I noticed that it was getting bigger in size. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but it was in deed getting bigger. It was as big as me now, maybe a bit bigger.
"As if it wasn't bad enough at its regular size!" I griped. As it got closer it got bigger. Its size now rivaled that of a Snorlax. That was it. I had to do something. With no other alternative I ran, hoping that I could outrun it somehow. It still proved to be futile for no matter where I ran or how fast it kept following me, getting closer with each step I took.
"No! Get away from me!" I screamed. I was so preoccupied with what was behind me that I tripped over my own two feet and came to a crashing halt. I was a bit stunned but otherwise unharmed. Unfortunately none of that mattered. Taking a glance behind me I saw the orb was right on top of me, its size too big for me to try and dodge. Overcome with fear I could only stare as the instrument of my destruction bore down on me.
"No! Someone help me!" I cried. I could feel the pressure from the orb bearing down on me, threatening to crush me with all its power. Unable to do anything else I was left with only one option…
I screamed…
"AH!"
"Piplup… hey, Piplup, wake up." I shot up, my breathing heavy and my eyes darting around. Blue sky… green grass… a small stream… this isn't where I was just now.
"Are you okay, Piplup?" I looked up and saw my trainer looking down at me, her eyes filled with warmth and compassion.
"That must have been one bad nightmare you had." Wait, nightmare? Everything that happened was just a nightmare? The more I thought about it the more it made sense. I let out a sigh of relief and laid my head back down on the grass. I just had the worst dream of my life, but it was just a dream, and dreams can't hurt me.
"Okay, Gible! Use Draco Meteor!"
That on the other hand…
And there you have it. Please review.
