Alice is Marcus Kane's daughter. She was best friends with Clarke and Wells while they were growing up. She is quite weird but also strong and kind. She stole from the medical supplies on the arc so that she would also be sent down as one of the 100, with Wells and Clarke. Relations between her and Bellamy are tense at first; they both strongly dislike each other. However, it is more complicated than it seems.
Most of the other characters feature strongly – this is aimed at anyone who likes Bellamy but doesn't want to imagine themselves as Clarke or another character already on the show. It's based on the tv show not the books.
It's the first night on earth for the 100. Clarke, Finn, Jasper, Octavia and Monty are out in the forest looking for the supplies. Alice and Wells are back at the camp where Bellamy is inciting the others.
Wells: 'I don't like this.'
I look up. Wells' face was etched with worry. He was always worried, even more than usual since the situation with Clarke. Personally I think he should just tell her that he didn't tell on her dad, but he's adamant about keeping it a secret.
Me: 'They're just excited. The novelty will wear off soon and that's when we'll have to be careful.'
I start twiddling my curls absentmindedly while humming the tune of William Tell's Overture. Humming while in a conversation is an annoying habit of mine. Wells gives me one of his 'seriously, Alice?' looks, but his mouth twitches up at the sides.
'Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood.'
His smile widens. He stays silent for a while and then says quietly, 'I'm glad you're here, Alice; at least I have one person who doesn't hate me.'
'Well we're not exactly popular here, being 'privileged' and all' I reply, rolling my eyes.
We laugh together while the madness around us continues.
Wells is arguing with Bellamy. That guy is so smug it makes me angry. 'Whatever the hell we want' is his catchphrase, which seems to have hypnotised everyone. It won't work on me though. It's clear to see he doesn't know what he's doing, and his arrogance makes him stupid. I wish Clarke was here. The problem is. Wells, Clarke and I are from privileged families. All the other kids here come from poorer families and they resent us. Wells has already been attacked by some guy called 'Murphy' and his friends. I've managed to stay under the radar so far but I don't know how long that will last. I decide to intervene in their argument. I stride up to Wells and push infron of him, directly in front of Bellamy. He's a lot taller than me so I have to look up to talk to him.
'Just back off, okay. Wells knows what he's talking about. He's smart and however much you dislike councillor Jaha, he did know how to look after his people, how to survive, and so does Wells. You need to actually do something instead of just dancing around like apes.'
I stop talking abruptly. I expected him to shout back at men or to laugh and call me stupid, but he just stood there with a smirk on his face. This was worse.
'What would the Lady suggest?', he said mockingly.
'Talk to Wells' I snapped, caught off guard, and stormed off back to the trunk I was sitting on. Behind me I heard Wells voice, clear, saying that we needed to collect rain water.
Bellamy's reply was no surprise - 'whatever the hell you want'.
