HEY GUARD…HOW DO YOU FEEL?
I perceive we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is not an act, but a habit. In recent times, I've noted my reality has diminished into fraudulent dreams and deception. What has happened to the adherence of teamwork? The tenacity of this guard has dissolved into pity arguments and meaningless self-indulgence. How many times have you heard that there is no 'I' in team? Obviously, its time to be reminded not only that this is a group effort but that Holly and Kelly work their butts off for us. I am not saying that our hours of practice are not enough because trust me, I often sympathize in our commitment. I am saying however that it is not the quantity of time that makes us great, it is the quality of that time.
I do not want to become a remnant of consecration. I for one haven't practiced a day outside of rehearsal. That is perplexingly contradictory to the dogmas that colorguard used to hold monumental. If you're beginning to realize the same sense of worthlessness, I encourage you to be the difference that makes the difference.
During the past few days, I have come to the point when sensation disappears and reason is dulled until I lose all grasp of time and place. I miss the seniors who harped the value of iteration. Its unfortunate Alan isn't here everyday to pound the pressure of supremacy and representation upon us. It has come to my knowledge that every moral taught in the fall season was placed solely on the individual.
I suppose that I have let you all down and therefore made it my duty to improve myself. In actuality, we are destroying each other. Overtime we get our neighbors to talk out of turn or slug back to our sets; we eradicate our entire team. Holly once shared a poem with me and I believe that the time calls for its return.
"We may call it by this or by that- teamwork or cooperation. Together we stand; by ourselves we fall flat. We cannot stand alone- even the best of us; but must share our gifts with our good fellow friends for were only a part of the rest of us."
In no way was this essay meant to incriminate anyone. Instead, its basis is to vent, advise, and hopefully persuade. Lastly, I want to say that attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. In addition, attitudes are contagious. I hope yours is worth catching. In conclusion, let us take today off and come Saturday with rekindled spirits, open hearts, and willing minds. Remember that some people dream of worth accomplishments while others stay awake and achieve them.
IT'S NOT HOW GOOD YOU ARE, IT'S HOW BAD YOU WANT IT!
