"JACK!" yelled the Doctor from the control room, Rose giggle, walking just behind Jack, stopping at the doorway and keeping in the shadows. She liked seeing the Doctor go off at Jack; the man just seemed to take it all in his stride, flirt a bit and continue to do it, not pushing him too far however, the airlock seemed a rather lonely place to Jack.
No one to flirt with at all.
"Can you explain this?" he lifted up a piece of the floor grating, Rose leaned forward slightly to get a look,
"I believe its Oryctolagus cuniculus, more commonly referred to as the European rabbit, these are a lovely shade of brown if I do say so myself. Must be nice and warm down there for them, you allowing pets now?"
"NO!" he gesture angrily around him, "what does this look like, a bloody pettin' zoo?"
Jack put his hands up in defense,
"Never said it did, just asking. You're the one with the rabbit problem, not me."
"They're not my rabbits, why would I let a rabbit on board to chew my wiring?"
"So you could fix it again" Jack said decisively,
"I'm up to here with repairs as it is why would I make more?" he put his hand to his forehead. Jack saluted him.
"That's not the only thing I'm up to here in." Muttered the Doctor,
"Did you bring the rabbits on board or not Jack?"
"No" he shook his head to emphasise his point,
"Any chance one could have snuck onto you?"
"How the hell would I get hitchhiking rabbit on me?"
"Rabbits" the Doctor corrected,
"The point still stands"
He considered this for a moment before looking over Jack shoulder,
"Rose, mind coming outta the shadows?"
She'd been caught; she went a bit pink as she walked out of the shadows,
"I don't care how you got the rabbits on here, I just want them off."
"How do you know it's me? It's still just as likely to be Jack!"
"Who wore clothes on the last planet we visited?"
"I did, but how is…" he cut her off
"And who didn't?"
"Jack didn't, got arrested for it an' everythin', pretty rude to walk around nude in public, but I still don't…" he cut her off again, this was starting to get annoying.
"And approximately how long ago was that?"
"Oh, I don't know, two weeks maybe? Can you just exp…"
"And how old do these rabbits look?"
She stared at him; she was getting rather sick of being cut off,
"Right, sorry, just trying to get to the point, answer the question?" he quickly tacked on the end, "Please?"
"About a day old I guess"
"So factoring in the gestation period of a European rabbit, there is no way Jack could have got this rabbit on here, short of hiding it the one place a rabbit isn't suppose to go"
"But…"
He raised his arms,
"I don't care, sell them, give them away. Just get rid of them." He walked away, presumably to his bedroom, he was long overdue for a sleep cycle, hence his shortness.
"Oh and Jack" he popped his head back round the door,
"Yeah Doc?"
"I don't care what you do in public but on my ships we at least wear pants" he disappeared again.
"5 quid says he jealous more than annoyed"
"Not worth it"
"10?"
"Done"
Later, in the safety of his room, Jack removed a box from his wardrobe, feeding the inhabitants vegetable he'd snuck from the kitchen. The other two gave him weird looks if he said he was taking them to his room for a snack. He smiled to himself,
"Don't worry Doctor" he whispered to himself, "I won't turn your ship into a petting zoo, I'll turn it into a thriving ecosystem." He patted the darker of the two rabbits left in the box, "I just need a cat and a dog." His eyes grew eviler, "and a hawk"
