AUTHOR'S NOTE: Just a sweet little one-shot, not too sure if I'm going to extend this –highly doubt I will. New take on Tom and Bellatrix. I know he's some 20 years older than her originally, but I liked this version, before she was corrupted and obsessed with him, when she was simply a friend and he liked her as a young girl. Of course, Tom isn't innocent, but he pretends to be merely to muse himself...
Please review, tell me if this is something you'd like to see become a story. Enjoy!
"Tom? Tom, wake up. It's Christmas. I got you something." A sweet voice said innocently.
Tom Riddle Jr. Felt a light body climb onto his bed and place something down beside him before drawing the curtains slightly apart.
"Don't open them." He grunted, his head pounding as he placed a hand out to stop her and another over his face to shield him from the white light of the school grounds covered in snow and the blizzard going on outside.
"But... then you won't be able to see what I got you. Sit up. Please? You'll like it!"
"Don't shout Bellatrix." He growled to the younger girl. She was merely 14, young, pretty, excitable and not fully developed yet.
"Tom, please."
"What? What?" he asked while sitting up and rubbing his face vigorously for a moment.
She handed him the box beside her and smiled, placing her hands in his lap. He cleared his throat, looking up at her for a moment, "Why?"
"Because I wanted to. I think you'll like it. And besides, it's Christmas." She said sweetly, chewing on her lower lip.
He opened the box, it wasn't huge, but it wasn't tiny either. It was a medium size, big enough to put a kitten in. But when he opened it, the thing inside didn't look anything like a kitten. A tiny, barely the length of her forearm snake was in the box, it's dark green skin hard and it's eyes a white.
"A... basilisk?" he asked her, looking up at her once more.
"Mhmm," she murmured, smiling sweetly, "You like it?"
"Why would you..."
"I heard you talking to Rodolphus," she said calmly though she looked down to her lap, "I guess I heard what you were saying about the chamber and you've told me your plans, and I knew that basilisks can't kill people when they're so small, because their eyes aren't developed until they're older. And you showed me not long ago... told me that they were one of the best ways to -"
"Protector the chamber." He said.
"Yes..." she murmured, looking back up at him.
"You listen more than I perceive, Bella. This is why you will always be loyal to me, my pet."
The sweet young girl that just adored being around him looked up at him, she tilted her head slightly as he got up with the small snake, the one he so desperately wanted to use but controlled himself from doing so. He had enough girls, this one was young, the dew of youth was still fresh on her and he desired her more for other purposes. His weapon he would train, his assassin. He watched her skill, her power that almost argued with his own, he could teach her more and more, make her powerful and make her his own.
