She used to call him Jamie. And not that she was the only one… But Betsy did this as if she was drawing a parallel between him and her brother – the one whom she had to kill. Did she want to do the same to Madrox? It was useless anyway. Hit him once and you'll have two smirking bastards instead of one, so Elizabeth chose another way of coping with irritation. She just ignored him. Just when did it all start? When Magneto has introduced her to all the members of the Brotherhood, James was also here. A newbie behind the back of his patron, Mystique, who didn't look as confused as the other newly-came. May be that was the thing that caught Betsy's eye? Now she could not tell. She used to call him Jamie. But he could not cut her name in the way that it would touch her. Betsy was okay with all the diminutives of it. So he started calling her Bette, but she didn't allow this to anyone else. Why has Madrox to be special? Just a fellow member of the team to which she did belong only formally. No one did knew. No one but the director of S.H.I.E.L.D whom did Elizabeth report twice a month in a certain time and certain place. But she lead this double life quite easily. Betsy was the agent – and that was it. She used to call him Jamie, and well, they even have not been friends. They have not been lovers. When this slim curios girl of X-men, Katherine, appeared in the headquarters of the Brotherhood and claimed that she now wants to follow their ideas… If Elizabeth was not the one who didn't show any glimpse of surprise. And she called him Mad – quite a suitable nickname for this man, Betsy thought. James seemed to be protective over this girl, but Betsy was not even jealous. Betsy just knew: there were lots of young women all over the world which fell under the spell of his, and Katherine – Kitty was just another one. But she did not have the background experience that Psylocke did. And Elizabeth didn't seem the one who would like to share valuable information easily. She was an agent in the first place, you know. And she looked on the others down upon, although Betsy didn't let it to be noticed. She just did her job perfectly. And left the window open at night, because Betsy knew that she would not wake up alone.
- How do you think, Bette, maybe we should live altogether like a big happy family?
- Of course,- she answers seriously avoiding the sparkles of laughter in his gaze.- You and your clones do fit together very well, James.
- What's with Jamie? - He asks stroking her purple strands gently.
Betsy keeps silent, but the answer is already on her tongue, waiting to be pronounced. No more affections, she would like to say. But she was not Scarlet Witch for these words to acquire the true meaning.
