Mercutio would have laughed if he saw me with her right now. I was dancing with Rosaline, the twinkle in her eyes were unlike any star lit in the night sky. Her smile glowed brighter than a torchbug. Her lips… Oh, her lips, I wanted to embrace them with mine and give them my eternity in a moment. I leaned in, closing on her lips, but she pulled away. She smiled coyly as she licked me on the cheek. I laughed and wiped it off. Giving her a kind smile I rose my hand and placed it on her cheek, caressing her face lightly. We stopped dancing. We stood there in each others' arms not wanting to release. We stared deeply into each others' eyes. For a second, I could feel my heartbeat meeting hers as we both finally reached in for our first actual kiss.
Her lips were soft and her kiss was gentle. The warmth of her presence wrapped around my entirety and I nearly melted away from it. The kiss was lingering yet too short of a contract. The meeting of our lips were done, the parting was over, though the feeling stalled in it's moment. I let out a small breath with a smile. As she smiled back shyly, I wrapped my arms all the way around her holding her tightly.
I slowly let her go as she put her hands behind her back. She still had the same smile. I could feel nothing but fear. A tear slid down her cheek as she shook her head. The pain swept me as she started to walk away. She was of the Capulet's and I of the Montague's but that should not have been the thing that kept them from love.
The pain was horrible. I could never come close to imagining being with anyone but Rosaline.
