Author's Note: Here is a new Jack x Lacie fic. I kinda got the idea from a lyric in the Smallpools song, American Love. It says, "If I belonged to anyone, I'd choose a blonde and have a son". This made me think of Jack and Lacie and a life they could have had. Anyway, hope you all like it!
Disclaimer: I do not own Pandora Hearts.
As the wind blew through the trees and ruffled the newly formed leaves, Lacie closed her eyes and smiled. She was sitting on a blanket along the edge of the river. It was so peaceful here and she felt joy, pure joy, as she sat there. When she heard an approaching figure, she opened her eyes and turned her head.
"You look so happy." The blond man softly stated. He walked over, and his gloved hand floated above her shoulder as he decided whether or not to set it down. After all these years, he was still hesitant to touch her without her permission. She grabbed his hand and placed it down on her left shoulder. She then rested her hand on top of his.
"I am happy, Jack." She stated as she looked up at him. He gave her his signature smile, big and bright.
"Well, I'm gl-" He began, but he didn't get to finish. The sound of someone running towards them silenced him.
"Mom! Dad!" A young boy yelled as he burst through the trees that surrounded the river. He ran over to Lacie and held out his hand. In it was a bunch of dandelions.
"Look what I found!" He shouted excitedly. "Look! They're for you, Mom."
She took them in her hand and looked at them. Most of the seeds had floated away when he ran, but she smiled at his excitement over something so small. "They're lovely. Thank you." She said as she took them from him.
"Do you know what you do with a dandelion?" Jack asked. His son looked at him confused as he shook his head.
"You blow on them, and as the seeds fly away, you make a wish." Jack stated as Lacie handed a dandelion to him.
He demonstrated and his son looked in awe as the seeds floated around in the air. He then asked, "What did you wish for, Dad?"
Jack laughed and said, "If I tell you it won't come true." He then sat down on the blanket by Lacie.
Their son sat down on her other side and grabbed a dandelion from her. "I'll make a wish, and you make a wish too, Mom." He said. Then he took deep breath and blew the dandelion seeds away.
Lacie stared down at the plant in her hand and froze. "I wish all this was real." She said aloud. "I wish it was real."
"Mom, you can't say your wish out loud!" Her son yelled at her as he began to disappear.
She turned to Jack and watched as he smiled at her as he slowly faded away. The forest changed to the twinkling lights of the Abyss. It was beautiful, but at the same time, it was lonely. She could hear something speaking to her, beckoning her to join it.
She jolted awake and looked around. She was in her room, lying on the plush, red couch. She sighed as she got up and grabbed her coat. Daylight was just breaking as she walked out of her tower into the cold winter morning. She didn't mind the cold though as she walked down to river.
She hated that she had begun to change her mind. She hated that he was the reason she had. If only that idiot hadn't come back into her life. If only he had forgotten about her when he had the chance.
She closed her eyes as she felt the sun peak through the trees and hit her face. She could vividly see her dream form around her. She stood there until she started shaking from the cold. When she opened her eyes, the lights were twinkling, and the voice began to talk to her as she walked back. She tried to ignore it, but she finally broke down.
"You wish to not be alone." She said. "Well, I'll see you soon." She then walked into her tower and slowly shut the door.
