After nine months, Lily was ready for this damned baby to be out of her.

Dumbledore had whisked James away in what was supposed to be a very short, two day mission. After much urging from Lily, James agreed to go. The wizarding world wasn't going to save itself. Sirius had agreed to stay with Lily until James had come back; a solution that put both James and Lily to ease.

Lily had been cleaning and rearranging things nonstop for the past two days. When she was refolding all of baby Harry's blankets, she felt the strangest sensation run through her abdomen, followed by a warm trickle down her leg. At her sudden intake of breath, Sirius, who didn't dare be far from her side, looked up sharply.

"Sirius, it's time." Lily said with a knowing smile on her face.

"It's time for lunch? What do you mean 'It's time'?"

"I mean, the baby is coming, whether or not his daddy is here."

Sirius looked at Lily in shock. Sirius wasn't supposed to be here for this. The baby was due in five more days. James wasn't even here right now! As Sirius collected his thoughts and tried to bring his panic under control, Lily left the room to grab her and Harry's bags for Saint Mungo's. As Lily made her way past Harry's room with bags in tow, Sirius seemed to remember what was going on.

"Lily! Did I pack your tooth brush? What about James's? OR the BABY"S?! Wait he won't have teeth yet! OH my god what if he has teeth!?" At every question, Sirius began to panic more, rushing around trying to get everything in order.

"Sirius, sweetie, you didn't even pack the bags. I did. I'm sure I packed our toothbrushes. I need you too-" Her words were cut off as a contraction struck.

"Oh my god Lily-Flower, breathe. HEE-HEE-HOO. HEE-HEE-HOO." Several minutes past by before Lily had opened her eyes to see Sirius staring at her in terror.

"Sirius, we need to get to Saint Mungo's. You ready?"

"Lily, I'm not ready to be a father!"

"Sirius, you're not going to be. Now let's go; we need to get to Saint Mungo's and we need to owl James."
