Phasma was one of the best troopers the Empire had seen since the end of the Clone Wars. Her loyalty, second only to the Knights of Ren, and that was only because of their loyalty to Supreme Leader Snoke. But even then, she was still just a stormtrooper. As disposable as the rest, despite the obscene amount of money that was spent on training and equipment. She, like the rest of her kind, were little more than fleshy machines encased in plastoid battle armor, yet she managed to surprise. It surprised Hux that Phasma could show anger despite the years of conditioning. He couldn't see her face, regulations forbade such an action, but the way she mercilessly gunned down Resistance and Republic soldiers, as well as Republic sympathizers alike on every planet they liberated, spoke of her fury towards those who were responsible for the Destruction of Star Killer Base, as well as the humiliation of her part in it. Anger, Hux supposed, was in everyone, even a stormtrooper, it was a basic emotion that allowed for a person to move forward despite loss, but kindness? Kindness was not something he expected to see among First Order troops, especially Phasma, who would order the death of an entire village without hesitation, yet striding towards him with her blaster in one arm, and a small toddler in the other, was none other than the chrome plated trooper herself. "Captain." Barked Hux. Phasma stopped at attention before the general, or as well as she could with a child in her arms.
"Is there something you require, sir?" Asked the trooper.
"What are you doing with that...child?"
"I'm am taking this child to the medical station for treatment for a broken leg, general."
"There are still Resistance forces in the city captain, why did you stop for one child?"
"The child was trapped under rubble from a collapsed building, sir."
"That does not answer my question, captain."
"Sir, this planet is officially a part of the First Order, and this child is therefore a citizen of the Empire. As a soldier of the First Order, it is my duty to protect its citizens, be it by battle or aiding a wounded child." There were several seconds of silence before Hux spoke.
"Very well." Huffed Hux, "Take that child to the medical station and get back to the front, I want the Resistance driven out of the city before nightfall." Phasma bowed her head.
"Yes, general." It would be a day later, when the planet was fully liberated from the Republic, that Phasma would surprise Hux yet again, finding that Phasma had been saved from a collapsed building by a stormtrooper nearly thirty years prior.
