''It's like a curse,'' he told her.
''He intends to carry that on his shoulders for the rest of his life. That promise causes him pain... I think you do too.''

Those words were like a slap in the face. A curse? She never saw it that way. But how could she have? Unlike her, Naruto never made his pain known. She couldv'e been killing him on the inside and he'd take it; he'd let himself fade away before he let anyone know.

He just wasn't that kind of person.

Sakura knew Naruto liked to talk alot. She knew he whined often, too. She thought those complaints were just the extent of his displeasure. Never could she have ever guessed that deep down inside, he was balled up weeping, just like she was.

''All he ever does is cause me pain... it's like he never wants me to find love.''

Sakura felt like a twisted hypocrite, saying those words when really that's what she was doing to Naruto.

This wasn't right. It took Sai, the emotionally challenged boy to point out to Sakura what she was doing to him. Now she knew.

She was killing Naruto.

Killing him, like a disease that ate away at his soul, at his conscience, taking away everything that made Naruto Naruto.

Those smiles. That laughter.
Fake. It was all lies.
He was protecting Sakura from the truth, leaving himself open to attack.

And Sakura was the one dealing all the blows.

'This has... to stop,' she thought to herself, tears of guilt and pain and self-loathing a torrential downpour on her face.

'I can't let this go on.'

Sakura would lift Naruto's curse, even if she had to give something up herself.

Author's Notes:

Yech. Angsty drabble. Just had to get that out of the way before I wrote anything new.
Well, this is basically my interpretation of the whole ordeal. I'm hoping this is the path Sakura'll take. Oh, and I don't dislike Sakura, if that's the impression you're getting. I rather like her, in fact. (Obviously)

Sequel?
I don't know, that's up for Kishimoto to decide.
