A/N: New story! It feels like it's been forever since I've wrote anything on here since it's probably been over a year or two. A lots happened but I kinda in the mood to write again so yay! Enjoy it then review it! =)

His hair was soaked with sweat, his ears still echoing the crowds' chants, and his voice was still a little hoarse from singing, but he loved every minute of it.

To think that not too long ago he wasn't even picked to play at his own school, and now he was playing in front of thousands on tour. It was surreal.

He now could see what Miley had been saying all these years. He now could relate.

He slipped outside the concert stadium backdoor to enjoy some fresh air. He leaned over the railing nearby and gazed up at the sky.

When he was little he thought if he could just reach up, he could touch the stars. When he couldn't he attempted on his toes, and then climbed up a tree, but still could not get anywhere close.

He could see the stars very clear tonight. And he started thinking that maybe his parents were looking at the stars right now, or maybe Miley or Lilly.

"Arghh," he sighed, taking a chunk of his hair in his fist and tugging it. Lilly had left text messages, and voicemails, but he finds himself distant lately towards her. He was replying with short messages and their phone calls were even shorter. He could sense that things were closing in on their relationship, and he's pretty sure she knew it too.

The whole relationship was doomed from the beginning though. They constantly fought, and when they didn't they were in front of Miley, Jackson, or somebody putting on a show.

Sure he loved Lilly, but it wasn't an 'I want to potentially marry you' love. More like a sister love, where he would still do anything for her.

To be honest, he even thinks Lilly knew about who he really loved. Probably before he would even admit it.

How many times can you keep lying? Trying to cover up the obvious?

He was in love with Miley for crying out loud. As he stood outside, as the music from the concert was muffled, he wanted Miley standing next to him sharing this moment.

In the hospital, after Miley's accident on the slope, that was his chance. He wanted to get rid of the weight. He wanted Miley to know. But he saw the opportunity for escape and took it. Who practices 'I love you' on their unconscious best friend anyways?

But just like the stars, Miley was not reachable. She is untouchable, because when you get close you get burnt. When you think you're finally getting close, you're still millions of miles away.

"Loving someone that doesn't love you is like reaching for a star. You know you'll never reach it, but you just got to keep trying."
