CHAPTER I
Long Lost Twin

Okay, this time for sure. I started to approach the man that was sitting in a small booth at Taki's Diner, when I came to a sudden stop. What on Earth would I say to him? I started to wonder. Oh, hi, I'm you're long lost twin. Mind if I come eat with you? I let out a sigh and shamefully walked back to my table. Rationalization- 5, Abbey- 0.

"Chicken out again?" Dylan said as he licked the plate of the already demolished spaghetti. I mumbled a few words, probably somewhere along the lines of "I don't know, maybe," or "Shut up and order more food." I don't really pay attention to what I say when I'm upset.

"I say you just get it over with. I mean what's the worst that could happen?" He said as he waved at Kaelie, signaling that he wanted more food. I rested my chin on my hand and stared at my brother. Why can't I talk to him? I've never been shy before. Then my eyes averted over to a red-head who walked in and took a seat across from him.

"Who is that?" I said, probably more bitterly than I had planned.

"Her name's Clary Fray. You haven't heard of her? Valentine's daughter? Practically saved Alicante from becoming demon-infested? Ah, thanks Kaelie." He said and immediately started to devour the food. Sometimes I wonder if they drug their meals. I've never seen anyone obsess over food that much. Dylan looked up, and gave me a look as if he were trying to offer me some. I guess he noticed me staring.

"No, I haven't heard of her."

"Well, those two are dating." He said, wiping the sauce from pretty much everywhere on his face. "If you're going to tell him about being his twin sister, you might as well do it now."

"In front of her? Not a chance." I stood out of my chair and abruptly turned, bumping into a waiter who was unfortunately carrying a meal to the group of werewolves sitting next to us, covering both myself and the waiter in raw meat.

"Great," I muttered to myself. I stood up and tried my best to peel off the strips off uncooked chicken that were strangely sticking to my shirt. I noticed Dylan starting to laugh, so I gave him a death stare and quickly walked out of the diner. Why do these sort of things always happen?

I was glad that it was cold outside, if it were warm the meat would've rot, and more importantly, smelled. I was about to call a taxi when a voice from behind said, "Hey!" I turned around to see the one and only Jace Wayland, my brother, standing behind me. My day just keeps getting better and better.

"You dropped this." Jace said and held out my wallet. How did I manage to drop my wallet? I looked through the transparent doors of the restaurant to see Dylan smirking. Of course he had something to do with this, he always does.

"Thanks," I murmured and snatched the wallet from his hands. He nodded his head and started to walk back into the diner.

"Jace, wait!" I said as I jogged after him. What the hell am I doing. He stopped.

"How did you know my name." He said quietly. I looked at Dylan who was tapping his wrist and mouthing "hurry up".

I sighed as I said, more or less mockingly, "Oh, hi, I'm you're long lost twin. Mind if I come eat with you?"
