Lasercorn stood at his closet, eyeing his sparse clothing collection. "Goddammit," he muttered under his breath. He was just about to drive to the Smosh Games HQ to film a new Gamebang today. Now, he loved his nerdy t-shirts and ragged jeans, but they just weren't cutting it anymore. He needed to look better. He needed to grab attention. Irritated and mumbling to himself, he grabbed his keys and made his way to the door. Looks like he was on a mission to buy some new clothes.
Lasercorn checked the time on his phone, whispering "shit" when he only had an hour before Gamebang. He had been wandering around the mall like a stray dog for nearly two hours now. He'd bought clothes there before, but nearly all of them had come from Hot Topic or Spencer's. He didn't know fashion, and he felt like an idiot for not even knowing where to get a nice shirt. Just as he was about to give up and go to Gamebang dressed as usual, he saw two guys walk out of a store. He watched them as they went by. Nodding his approval at their fashion choices, he checked to see what the name of the store they had just left was. "Forever 21?" He said aloud. It looked very girly. But hey, he was willing to give it a shot.
Being in Forever 21 was like being in a smaller, more condensed mall. He could barely maneuver throught the store, bumping into a different teenage girl every few seconds. It took him a few minutes to find the guy's clothing section. And once he was there, he was totally lost. The employees watched him, giggling to themselves at how confused he looked, until they began to feel sorry for him. One of the girls walked over to him.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked, smiling at him.
Lasercorn debated on whether to let her help him, or to just keep trying on his own. He decided that the latter was pointless. "I just...I need something better than this." He gestured to the outfit he was wearing. "I'm...um...trying to impress someone." He added, blushing.
The girl nodded in understanding. "Ah yes. We've all been there. Don't be embarrassed. Are you going to a formal event, or...?"
"No, no. It's just a personal thing. I just need something that's nicer than this."
The girl led him to a rack of clothing, where button up shirts of all colors were hanging. "You'll be fine picking any one of these." Lasercorn picked out a light blue, checkered, short sleeve button up. The girl pointed to his jeans. "Those god-awful things should have been tossed years ago." She handed him a pair of dark jeans. They were slightly tighter and a different style than what he was used to, but he wanted to look nice, after all. "The shoes you have will be fine with this."
Lasercorn followed her to the check out, thanking her profusely, before leaving the mall. After checking the time, he realized that he didn't have time to go home to change clothes. He quickly squirmed out of his jeans while sitting in the seat of his car, wrestling to get the tighter jeans on. Changing shirts was no problem. A million thoughts went through his head as he was driving to HQ. "Am I trying too hard?" "Is this stupid?" "This is pointless."
Lasercorn arrived at the Smosh Games HQ just in time for Gamebang. As he was hurrying down the hall to the gaming office, he saw Ian just ahead of him, getting a glass of water. He turned to walk to the gaming office, and saw Lasercorn standing there.
"Wow, David. You look nice today." Ian said, smiling, as he looked at Lasercorn, standing at the end of the hall.
Lasercorn tried to look nonchalant. "Oh, well, thanks." Ian smiled at him warmly one more time before turning to walk into the room. Lasercorn smiled bigger than he had in a long time. "Mission accomplished."
